Grand Cayman is a close 2nd. 7 mile beach and stingray city is great but there is more happening in St. Maarten, imo

some great advice on this thread. I've been going to the Caribbean every year for the last nine and i love it every time... St. Thomas is good for shopping but overall the Caribbean isn't what is used to be for bargains.

Basically i go for the beaches and have been to just about every island and like them all.

I stayed in Caneel Bay in St. John, for my honeymoon, 14 years ago. Great island, lots of nature, very quiet. All Westins are good.

I go to St. Croix every year, 1-2 weeks, in January. Been going there ~10 years. Wife's parents have a condo there. Kind of third-world-ish, can get by cheap if you want, nice resorts if you want to spend the money. Someone described St. Croix to me as what Maui was like back in the 1960s.

I remember during my honeymoon that Eric Clapton's yacht was anchored in the harbor near Caneel Bay - HUGE, with a helicopter on the yacht.

Do a lot of snorkeling in St. John. Learn how to SCUBA dive before you go, if you can. If you don't have time before you go, you can go diving with a dive shop without certification - you're just limited to 40 feet. Call the St. John Westin's concierge service before you go for details on what you may need to bring, and for reservations.

Be careful as soon as you get off the airplane cuz it's pretty dangerous. However it's safe as long as you stay in the hotel compound. I would suggest the Half Moon Resort if you decide to go to Jamaica.
My dad goes every year to Jamaica to play golf at Half moon. The pics make it look amazing.

B.V.I. is great, i chartered a 46' Beneteau for 2 wks and was able to explore, Virgin Gorda, Norman Island, Peter Island, Jost Van Dyke, Tortola, and scuba dived, snorkeled, sailed the whole time. I prefered staying on the sailboat since we could see more places than just staying on one island for the whole trip. Wreck of the Rhone was the best dive I have ever done.
