Gintani Stage 2 M3 (7.5PSI) vs. BMW 335i Single Turbo (22 PSI)

Had the opportunity to race a Single Turbo 335i yesterday that is local to me, We all know the N54s with a single turbo is no joke and the debate will never end, This car was pretty fast. Here is my comparo run with the car, I must say I am happy with the results. The supercharger has been performing flawlessly without a hiccup, so far I have roughly 7,000km on my kit so far and could not be happier with it.

CRAPPY IPHONE QUALITY!

eh.. Second run looksl like the far lane (m3??) jumped. both cars are moving but I'd rather see both race from a dig. That's a real race. Not this rolling crap.

M3 always seems to egde out to (as per a similar vid here a few weeks ago) as they pull much harder upstairs than any turbo 6 cyl BMW

I wanted to go off a dig since we are both RWD ... The 335i was worried about snapping a axle shaft, so we both agreed to
Roll race. It was hard to hear each other's cars during the time but I noticed I started a little behind both races.

Any is a little stereotypical. There are n54 turbo upgrade kits that have been tuned so torque doesn't fall off at redline.

Race from a dig only shows who can launch their car better.

Yes, some big turbo BMW pull hard upstairs, but the M3 is more of a highway puller as it also revs to 8300.

And 2 competent cars racing from a dig should be equal. Each/every driver should be able to launch their car. Racing from a dig is and always will be a bench mark for performance. Not roll racing. If launching was so hard, people would stop doing 1/4 mile tests for base line performance.

either way, car looks pretty healthy OP; good luck with it!

These stats are a good indicator of how much better an engine the S65 is from a specific output standpoint. It literally takes 22psi on a 3.0L engine to equal similar flow/power numbers as a 4.0L on 7.5psi. You can bet the turbo itself is more efficient than the supercharger too, making the difference even more evident.

Agreed on the dig racing, and his car was pretty fast. My car revs to 8500 which helped me keep the lead... She is running great so far, no complaints.

PSI does not equal PSI...

20 lbs on one turbo does not equal 20 lbs on another.

You must have not done a lot of launching to think that 2 equally good drivers would be able to make perfect launchs most of the times with two high powered manual rwd cars like those! The best way to determine wich car is faster is really roll racing!

Good kill OP! That 335i seemed a little laggy, do you have any low speed rolls? I think it would be even worse for the 335i.

Go to a track (not a straight track ) to see which car is superior. For example, the Nurburing is also a benchmark for cars as well.

Anyways, not going to argue too much on the drag racing vs roll stuff (just peoples egos that I don't car about).

OP, nice job and it looks like you are enjoying your car which is what matters.

Well I like to think that I'm a competent driver but still most of the times at the strip I do 2.0xx 60fts evendo I've already done a 1.900 with the same set-up, that does'nt mean I can't drive, it just means the car is tricky to launch! I can only imagine how hard it would be with a turbo upgraded 335! IMO it's a waste of time trying to start from a dig unless you have something to proove about your driving skills wich I really don't!
