Do Canadian wheels utilize TPMS?

I am negotiating the purchase of a set of 18" wheels off of a Canadian e92 M3.

The seller tells me that in Canada, TPMS are not used. If this is the case, I am assuming that Canadian M3s utilize a similar set up to the e46 M3s, whereby the ABS sensors are used to detect differences in tire rotations????

Can anyone confirm/refute that Canadian M3s do NOT have TPMS?

Thanks, all!!!

I can't confirm it first hand, but I know I have read on E90post that this is the case. i.e. Canada uses FTMS while US uses TMPS (US used FTMS prior to early 2007 I believe).

That is what my tire guy told me...he showed me my stock 18" wheels and showed me that there is no TPMS sensors anywhere.

Unfortunatley i paid 360 Forged, an extra $400+ for sensors which i didnt even need

That is correct. The tires are monitored by the rotational speed difference and that is a good thing!

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but in Europe it seems to be the same way. I thought they'd have sensors but when I changed my tires I saw they don't have any sensors, and I was able to calibrate them fine.

Which do you guys prefer - TPMS or FTM?

I like the TPMS because it tells you exactly which wheel has the issue, but the sensors do seem to be a little sensitive. On the other hand, the FTM is sometimes set off because of wheelspin which can be annoying.

Thats why you have the reset button! and I'd rather have FTM, cuts down on the extra wheel weights to balance the rims.

I prefer the FTMS because of its simplicity, and BMW does too which is why they only use TPMS where required by law.

Yeah but you still end up having to check all of the tires just to be certain they aren't low which is a hassle. I agree though, overall I like the FTM.
