Modded Stock Exhaust - Paint Black or Leave Unpainted

Should I paint my modded exhaust black? Or leave it as is?

I like the look of the black exhaust, but for warranty purposes, I'd rather have it look stock so the dealer can't blame the exhaust in case there are ever any problems.

Thanks in advance for your input!

If you think it looks cooler, paint it! But the dealer can't blame that section of exhaust for any problem.

If you mod the exhaust, your warranty on it is gone anyway. Paint that thing!

OK, I will paint it.

The stock stainless steel with the yellow marks on it looks so nasty, I just needed a little push!

Thanks Guys!!!

I used a product called VHT Flameproof coating (in flat black). You can get it many places, I got it from Amazon. I put about 3 coats on and bolted it right back up. Works perfectly. One guy on here has had his painted for over a year and he's had no issues with it. It's made for headers and temps over 1500 fahrenheit so it works just fine on a muffler.

Did you remove the exhaust to paint?

Yea man, really easy to do. Takes me about 15 minutes taking my time. Just took it off, wrapped the tips with trash bags, and covered basically everything with the VHT. Happy with it.

Hell yea, Alex! Appreciate the quick turnaround on the exhaust mod, it sounds incredible. Already gettin' complements. Sorry I had to leave so early, but I'm glad I did--I think my wife was worried we were going to throw on a supercharger and vinyl wrap too!!

Just paint it. Looks much better (my opinion of course).

And just by painting it (I know you modded now so it doesn't matter), would not be a cause for not being granted a warranty claim. The dealer would have to prove the paint can cause a problem...good luck.

Paint it black and be done with it! I posted a thread a long time ago and you can see some before and after pics. The after pics are taken from down low, but when sitting in a car behind you can barely notice the exhaust!

Enjoy!

Paint it black. Looks so much better when "hidden" with black paint.
