For me, the first session of the day is usually a warm-up anyway ("is everything still attached?") getting ready for the second session and everything that comes after. I run the first session as normal and drop the pressure to 34 after the session ends. For the rest of the day, I just get out and drive, checking after each session until I'm sure they're stabilized.

I'm getting Stoptech Trophy kit installed today and I inquired about
buying a set of racing pads. The tech guy at Stoptech assured me that
race pads are likely unnecessary and would be a waste of cash
since the Stoptech Trophy BBK will not generate enough heat to be a
problem with an M3 running street tires on the track. After experiencing
rotor overheating and pad meltdown with my stock brakes and Endless
MX72 hybrid pads it's hard to imagine this could be true, but it sure
would be convenient to not to have to switch pads for every track session.

I'm curious to hear from forum members who are tracking their
Stoptech Trophy BBK: Are the Stoptech performance street pads
enough for intermediate/advanced DE track duty?

Cheers,

Axis

I do not think so.I have tried the ST standard pads with my 380/355 setup and they are an great street pad & light duty track pad but not for advanced groups on a circuit that requires a lot of hard use.I ran them for a couple of days before my Pagids arrived and difference was huge.

I ran the street pads once on my E46 that has a ST BBK. They worked but no where near as good as the PF01s that I was using.

Axis, i melted through an entire set of the Stoptech SP pads on my bbk in just over 1 track day. If you are on a heavy braking track and run fast those pads are garbage. Stick with the Endless pads.

J, you try these yet at all? I need to get a set of pads for my ST-60's before MSR Feb 9-10, can't decide between these and PFC06's.

I guess you'll have more info after the COTA event this weekend?

The Stoptech SR34 pads came in! They are packaged well...for whatever that is worth. And unlike the yellow pagids, they don't clash with my blue brake calipers!...that might be important for some...

I dare not leave this out...Stop Tech leaves off the ridiculouss unlike another company...the most ridiculous claim of any brake pad company. "Its Quieter" on a box of Performance Friction PF01s...you can't be serious?

Pagid yellows are on the car now. Fresh brake fluid and I've got the micrometer in the trunk. Off to the Circuit of the Americas tomorrow! I'll post results saturday night or sunday morning.

I've pretty much decided to try a set of these on the fronts to start the upcoming track season with (vs. my RS-29s)...

...but I will wait to order based on what the guinea pig says.

So, hurry up Jae and get back to us on that.

So...?

You've probably been home from the track for, what, a whole hour now? Where are the results, the data, the spreadsheets, the PowerPoint presentation?

I couldn't do a pagid vs stoptech. It rained for the first 2 sessions and then dried out the second 2 sessions.

The surface at COTA was fantastic! There was a crazy amount of grip in the braking zones. There were times I thought I was coming in too hot but the car would slow down so quickly.

So this is put off until 26-27 Jan. I'm sure the Stoptechs work well...I'm not sure if they are as good as the Pagids. The pagids are pretty damned good!

I've never used the 08s. The Pagids don't give up a lot of bite vrs the PF01s. Seems like they last longer though. The one big plus is I don't see a lot of heat cracking on my rotors. PF01s were bad about this.

Compared to PF01s? Depends. I think the Pagids last longer and are rotor friendlier. I'm not sure if PF01s have a higher temp range. The PF01s do seem to bite quite a bit more than the Pagids.

Depends on what you are looking for. I think for most, Pagid Yellows might be a better choice than PF01s for the E9X M3.

Lol...it is now!

For me, this comparison is more of a cost thing. Right now, I think the Pagid Yellow has established itself as a top tier track pad with the lowest operating costs. That's just from my observations.
