I would be more concerned about how much structural integrity you would lose.

"...structural integrity..."
Why? The hardtop adds no real structural benefit that I know of whether up or stowed away in the trunk.

You might lose a few hundred pounds stripping it out. depends if you take out all the mechanics. The safety roll bar that's part of the set up is independent and should stay in.

Maybe someone can shed some light, I have been under the impression that chopping the roof on the car can cause it to fold like a house of cards if the proper steps are not taken to reinforce and brace the structure.

Maybe this is different on the e93?

Yeah thats right. So i just wanna know does the hard top and the mechanics weight 400 lb or the car itself is heavier because it is built convertible. If it was a soft top i would def say that the car is built heavier but i don't know about hardtop.

The car itself is heavier but by how much is anyone's guess. The front seats are prob heavier than it's cousins since the seat belts are built-in. Their are slight dimensional differences, such as the trunk (which most spoilers don't fit) or overall dimensions of the car. How much, if any, weight differences there are among these various parts, who knows.....
