Need Help deciding Vossen vs ForgeStar

I am a bit indecisive on what rims to choose for my E93 Conv. Alpine White. This is my first year with the car and this would be my first true Mod after exhaust.. My two choices within my budget are:

1. Vossens CV3's gunmetal 20s -- ($560 per rim) A fellow member helping me out here has them and I like them however I am concerned about the ride being that I live in NYC and the roads are not great. Also concerned if it wont look right since my car is not dropped. Not looking to buy coilovers and I am not sure if springs would be an adequate drop for these rims...

2. ForgeStar F14 Concaved either 19 or 20s ($400-450 a rim).. not sure what color.. Anyone have any pics to offer ? And what size offset are best for my car - maybe I can just buy rims and just use the tires I have on my oem 19s..

Any input or pictures would be appreciated.

Personally I would go with the Forgestar, more sizes available and custom offsets. I would go with at least ZCP sizes of 19x9 and 19x10, which the Vossen don't even offer unless you go with 20s. I don't like dubs on a M3...just my .02.

Yea i am leaning towards forgestar too.. I am not sure how to choose offsets tho i want semi concave in front 19 x 9 and deep concave rear 19x 10 but how do i pick offset to where i can transfer my stocks 19 tires to new wheels? How high an offset can i go- i am rather new to this

The offsets for the ZCP wheels are 19X9 et31 and 19x10 et25. If you want to go more aggressive than this go with a 19X9 ET20 and a 19X10 ET20. With a 19X10 ET25, the OEM ZCPs rear is pretty aggressive from the factory.

Forgestar is a proven company..seen quite a few being tracked, more than HRE with no issues.

Also, the OPs question didn't even mention the ones you did...

Which vossens?

I'd rather get some ZCP or Morr wheels over the forgestars. There is a set of OEM GTS wheels and Morr wheels in the for sale section that are right in your price range.

This is spot on. Forgestar offers a 19x11 rear, Will allow for some meaty tires.

I had a similar dilemma. I went with the Forgestar F14s SDC in the rear and normal for the front...went with Bronzeburst...figured it would compliment Lemans Blue real well.

Definitely not Vossens and definitely not 20". I would suggest something wider and at least equal quality to stock... Otherwise what's the point? Since your car is an '08 I assume that you have the forged 19" OEM wheels. Neither of the options you listed are equal in quality to your stock wheels. If you go wide then the OEM tires will be too stretched. I would also suggest HRE, Volk, BBS or Advan. All of those brands are out of your range new but there are tons of used wheels for sale in this forum. I would much prefer a quality used wheel over a mid-level new wheel. Best of Luck.

Not yet, I ordered them mid November and was told it would take about 7 weeks. Besides, I'm running my winter setup right now.

We stand behind our product and our R&D goes into a very high quality product. There are different types of cast and even forging and for the CV3 wheels it is a low pressure cast wheel which is stronger and more expensive to produce than a regular cast wheel. We have an intense quality process to ensure customers can be confident in their Vossen Wheels purchase.

http://www.vossenwheels.com/Warranty/

And while most Vossen owners won't drive their cars at the track or drift them for a cast wheel it is very very strong. See below as an example!

Finally unlike many companies we are very connected to the BMW and enthusiast community. We are very supportive of BMW meets, events and are right there with you all.

Would Lexus put Vossen CV7s on a Supercharged GS if they were not impressed?

http://www.lexus.com/SEMA/PROJECT-GS.html

or a LFA?

What about the Audi R8?

And we are happy to announce this modified E55 running Vossen's just broke into the 10s!

Here is the fastest M5 in America (supercharged) running 20" CV3s

E93 M3 Vert!

Not all cast wheels are the same, nor are forged wheels. We also will have our new Vossen Precision Series lightweight forged wheels (an completely IN HOUSE EFFORT) debuting early 2013 for those that want to take their Vossen Performance to the next level and it will be priced accoordingly.

Good luck with your decision!

That's a lot of non-BMW photos for a company heavily invested in the BMW community.

Personally not a fan of vossen wheels. I find they look plain and boring. However, the forgestars look great.

Thats what I was thinking..also the CV3/CV1 in a 19X8.5 when everyone wants at least 9" for the front doesn't seem that connected to the BMW community.
