Another one I have gotten frequently is:

"Wow man, how much did you pay for that?"

Nothing too serious but a car buddy of mine attributed my bad gas mileage to my turbo engine.

I hope this never happens to me or I might face plant into my steering wheel and knock myself cold.

Similar. Had a guy at work ask how much it cost to "trick out my 3 series like that?"

A co-worker recently picked up a Camaro SS convertible which is a soft-top. He's parked next to me on "performance car row" at my work-place for the last month or so.

Weather finally turned for the good recently in Cali, and we happen to coincidentally walk out to our cars at the same time and he says, "What a beautiful day, when it's nice like this I bet you wish you'd gotten the convertible".

We get in our cars and I put down the hard-top, turn to him and smile.

About when I first got my car, a neighbor down the street was driving by and stopped to talk about my new (at the time) M3. He drives a stock camaro - not an SS or anything special. He talks about my car, saying how nice it is, and ends with "my car will still take yours in a race."

I couldn't help it. I said, "with a regular stock camaro? Are you kidding me?"

To which he responded "yea man, you've got a tiny v6 in there."

When my dad did PCD for his e60 M5, we were at the hotel and a guy walks out and was like oh man did you just get this? What did you do to your 5 series to make it look like that?

My dad was like, uhhh it's an M5, and thats how it comes.... (I guess to be far the M5 literally had just come out)

seems like that happens a lot to M drivers

I was finishing up a round of golf and was in the parking lot, and a guy came up and out of the blue told me "my AMG C63 will blow your doors off". I smiled and told him AMG stands for Ah M Gay . We both got a good laugh about it when he realized I was joking. AMG's are fast...

just yesterday i walk into the bmw dealer, im in to ask about getting my car cpo'd i tell him i have almost a year left on my factory warranty. he begins to tell me how much he loves the m3 and its always been his favorite...he says lets go out and look at the m3 and get the vin# he walks right up to a 2002 m3 in the lot and starts talking about all the improvements they have made with the car and how nice the v8 is. actually opens the door and keeps talking about it writes the vin down and heads inside... so i ask him how long hes been at bmw he replies 30 years prob not one person out there who is educated on bmw like him...so i turn to him and ask, do u think the cpo price is gonna change when u actually look at MY car and write down MY VIN. im like you see that shiny m3 ( my car is always clean) you know the one you walked right buy to get to the old m3 thats my car..he says are you sure?????????????????

guy told me once my car (328) had a 2.8 litet engine. i explained how it had a 3.0 but wasent turbo charged, he would not budge "im older ive been around dude, its a 2.8". another kid i know got a 328 auto completely stock. I have daul exhaust, tints ect ect and he was tellin me (in front of his buddys) how he has "sport mode" which means he can choose between "stick" and auto. also said the only difference between our cars was mine was an m3. lmfao the kicker? I asked him how if he likes the i drive. "I drive? uhh yea i drive it". i said no the i-drive, he goes "Yes I drive it its mine" i literally snapped and said "no the little mother fucking navigation screen does your car have it thats called i-drive". he said yes....some people really dont deserve things they have.

Good stories so far, I don't think I can recount any really bad ones yet.

It is incredibly rude IMO. Of course, I didn't explain that these were total strangers.

I went to a Mitsubishi dealership since my brother-in-law wanted to purchase a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart (Take note of spelling here, you'll see why).

As we waited on the lobby, car salesman approached us and he said that he previously worked at Hyundai dealership next door and they transferred him to work for the Mitsubishi dealership for about a year now. The two dealerships were basically owned by one guy so the car salesman said that he works on both dealerships at one time.

Anyway, the car salesman told us that he knows a lot about lancers, especially the EVO X and Rally-R. My brother-in-law asked him if they had any 2011 Mitsubishi Ralliart's in stock. The car salesman said that they currently don't have any and my brother-in-law will be put on calendar-sized waiting list that they have.

To make a long story short, he wrote my brother-in-law's name on the waiting list like this (Using a fictitious name for my brother-in-law):

NAME:
Ronny Newman - - - - - - 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Rally-R

My brother-in-law and I were shocked since the salesman wrote "Rally-R", instead of Ralliart. We told him we want the ralliart, not a rally-r. He said these cars are meant for racing and the "r" meant racing. My brother-in-law and I just giggled and headed for another Mitsubishi dealership. This just shows that he does not know shit about lancers.

That is rude. It happens... I say $12k and that came with the optional bigger 4 cylinder engine!

I was at an auto auction once and my wife and I were looking at (quite literally) her old Boxster which was terribly neglected by the person we had sold the car to. I opened up the front and the rear trunks and this dirty guy and his buddies come crowd around the car and he points out that it didn't have an engine (can't see it as you all well know). I just smiled and said "Yeah what a shame!"
