I mean trying to justify how responsible you are by saying "i did not want presents for Christmas and wanted to donate it to children." It's like wow you want a cookie for that? People donate gifts all the time, how about putting some community service, and getting out in the world to see society and how people interact with each other, help the homeless, red cross, take sociology classes, read the newspaper, meet people who worked for their car, get a gf. And when you do all of this then I can MAYBE say you are the more responsible person and a person who understands what he is receiving and can appreciate it to the fullest. Kids these days lose sight of what it means to be responsible and knowledgeable. Believe me i went through the same thing and was sooo stupid. At age 16 you have only experienced so much, and that is why everyone hated on "BMWPRINCE." He also said he was mature until he posted a video of himself pushing his car to the limit on a local freeway and saying it was on a track. As I said congrats on your car but i feel your parents have made a wrong decision. Sorry for the rant but someone had to say it...

Wow...this is a bad idea. Then again, some of the most fun things I have ever done started off as bad ideas.
Seriously though, be careful with the throttle on this car. There are a ton of guys on this board that have way more experiance then you, and have had this car surprise them with it's power. Honestly, if I were you I would park this thing for at least 6 months to a year, buy a used e36 M3, S2000, hell, a Miata even, and then learn car control from a professional. You have no idea how much you don't know, and how quickly what you don't know will get you killed. I lost count of all the accidents I've been at where the teenage driver was in a car they simply shouldn't have been in. Hopefully the worst you'll ever deal with is a speeding ticket. I was once a "responsible" 17 year old...I ended up 300 feet into the woods 3 weeks after I got my DL. Sermon over. Congrats, enjoy the ride, and welcome to the club!

Congrats I am sure that you will respect it. I got my 1st motorbike when I was 14 (much more dangerous) but I was always careful at that age, I only got stupid when I was older!

Remember your "friends" will love it if you wreck that car. They will use subtle techniques to get you to do something stupid. Always keep one eye on the speed as the car does not feel fast until it is to late.

Congratulations on the M, that is a very cool gift
some words of advice 414 horsepower is really powerful and becareful with flooring and taking hard turns with the M. Also, go to a track so you can mess up and learn the way of driving before u do anything crazy on the road Be safe and have fun man

well, honestly you will never know if i am more mature or not just by reading a few posts but thank you, if i were him i would tell my parents to return the car and get a 335i or even a 328i seriously, those cars are really fast and it will get him enough attention if thats what his looking for, those cars are safe, not that fast compared to an m3 and cost less . and god forbid if he gets into an accident he will be safe in that car and probably won't be going as fast as in the m3. honestly have fun bro and don't drive your friends for a year. they will push you to do dumb things. its better to lose few friends at this age then lose your life. good luck |

You are definitely playing against big odds at 16...
It's an unusual situation - to do the responsible thing, you must not speed. But in that case, why get an M3? And if you do speed, you probably will do it in the least safe manner because you don't know how to do it any other way. It's not the $ amount that raises my eyebrows, just the memory of past deeds... In other words, I wish a ton of good luck to you, OP... |

hey guys thanks for the congrats, and i promise i will drive saftley. Im not big on speed. BEing that i had quads and dirt bikes i think i learned my lesson on them. i realized, sure its fun to go fast, but are those 10 or 15 secs. if that worth losing your life, or jeopardizing the lives of others? in my mind its not. And im sure there will be some times that i spped(none at this age, or any where near it), but not in a wreckless situation---EVER.

I'll be the one asshole on the boards. It ain't about anything other than no one can appreciate money unless you went without it. I was raised in an upper middle class home, I always had a car to drive (not a nice one mind you, but not a dump of shit either) and I got to go on a nice family vacation once a year. I always worked though, but lets be honest, no matter how much I worked I was no way going to feed, cloth myself and buy a car, and insure it and pay for college, so I was lucky to have parents to pay for school.
Despite me working hard my whole life, it wasn't until law school and the years following building my business and many months barely paying my bills that I really appreciated money and its what made the purchase of my e92 335i and soon my e92 //M3 so wonderful: I had earned it and I appreciated it. Listen, congrats on your car, but though I will have the money to buy my kid a car such as an //M3, he will be stuck with much, much less of a car and if he is good, and responsible, he can take my or my wife's nice car out for a day or evening date. Cheers, Mark

Not really a big deal. Seen some ridiculous young kids with higher power and price cars.
Enjoy it. 17 when I got my e46 M3 and I think thats already enough. Do you work for it btw? Not trying to say your spoiled, just asking.

Happy B-Day Man and Congrats with the Car! Just be careful with it. I got my First car when I was 16 too, It was a 98 E36 M3, By my 18 B-day it was Super Charged! I was actually Paying half of the Payments cuz I had a job then by 18 I paid for all of it... Just be Very Responsible with it and as Mature as you possibly can. Some Youngsters get M's with thier Mommies and Daddy's money and act like shit towards everyone. As long as you are the same person you were before you got the car and keep yourself very Humble, Your good to go..... Congrats again and be Safe!
