StopTech Trophy BBK

Who on here has a Trophy kit?

Please chime in... Curious if you hear a small noise from the brakes after you come off the track.

Different than the noise the stock brakes make.....

I only hear the noise after I brake hard and then cruise at parking lot speeds (since my Akra/engine noise cover it up if I'm driving at anything higher than parking lot speeds)

kind of like a "brushing" noise? not like a cracking, or a thump style noise...

Brushing noise? Could be heat shield related. I have yet to install a kit on the E9x chassis but if it's anything like the E46 you need to remove the heatshields or at least trim them to accommodate the larger(wider) rotors otherwise they'll rub on it.

I thought it was the dust pan, but heard that since it's not a consistent noise (meaning there's like a brush ... brush..., each "..." is like .5 second) this may not be the case.
I mean, the brakes perform great now, I love them.... no question.

Just asking cause I can be a little paranoid sometimes

I do like Brembos. I had the PBK on my 2006 330i which were made by Brembo.

I actually emailed IND and gave them heads up if they see any used Brembos come in to let me know as I would like them to paint them and also get a good boy price on the BBK. I am in no hurry as for me it is more show than go so when a good deal comes up I may need to jump on it.

Both, actually. You have to remove the front shield and trim the rear one.

I would think your heat shields would already be removed because BBK won't fit with the heat shields on.

I have ST Trophy's. Probably just pad deposits like dapopa9 suggested.

Probably just a slight drag from the pads if it goes away.

We have them on our Frozen Gray M3 project car and we have had no issues with them. They have been on there for about 6K miles and also been tracked several times. We also run the Stop Tech trophy kit on both our GS M3 racecars. Great product.

I would not worry about it, I know on our car we have removed the headshields completely. I would guess yours are removed as well. Maybe some pad build up on the rotors after use on the track? What kind of pads are you running?

I have the StopTech Street Performance pads that came with the kit

I think it was some pad build up as I didn't hear it after the Track this past saturday, they do squeak though.

The front heat shield was remove, with the rear one trimmed and moved away from the rotor

A proper bed-in will reduce the squeak.

I already did do a bed in.

Should I bed them in again then?

The squeak now is minimal to non existent. I personally didn't notice it until it was pointed out to me

The bed-in process needs to be repeated once in a while. Just look at your rotor surface. If they are shiny like a mirror, it's time to bed in again.
