Best video mount: HD video camera (?)

OK, did a search on "mount" and did not get a result that worked - apologies in advance if I missed THE post

Am looking for a decent video mount for my ED trip. Just bought a Canon HD camera (small, not pro) for the trip etc.

Any suggestions as to a good video camera mount, something that will be firm enough and allow for sound placement?
