I'd rip them to my Ipod in the "lossless" format, and not have anything to carry. If I were to do discs, though, I'd probably get a disc wallet and shove it under the driver's seat. Your way is definitely safer, but I'm a superficial boob. My daily driver is a mess because I've been in a long drawn out move from New York to Philadelphia, but I keep telling myself that the M will be kept in pristine condition, under a car cover, only to be babied and treated like a queen. (Until the other one tells me that it's time to have a kid and I need to get something "practical." It may be time to do a trade-in at that point, and I don't mean the car. )

Uhh....thanks for the tip but I've got the CD thing covered...I only use an ipod for my M. I was talking about the EZ Pass - you know, the title of the thread?

Sorry about that. I'm still probably going to go the rear-view mirror approach. I haven't cracked my EZ Pass open yet, but it looks like yours and I assume will not fit without a lot of soldering, which I don't want to deal with. New York offers a license plate mounted pass for those people that have glass that interferes with the signal, so I may order one of those, cut it open, and see if it's any more compact.

Sorry guys, I've been extremely busy with work, and traveling I just got back, and will heading down to florida in a couple days. I will definitely keep you guys posted once I get a chance to do it, and take plenty of pics.

Found a great way to make the white EZ Pass much less visible. Go to a sign store (the little ones in the strip malls) and get a small sheet of black adhesive vinyl. I wrapped my EZ Pass very tighltly with it and even got some black velcro for the back. Looks a TON better.

I think they now have some type of case that goes on your license plate

Actually, the EZPass folks told me that the license plate option was less reliable and that I would still be responsible for tolls even if it didn't pick up when I went through the toll.

Funny thing...my friend has been using EZPass for years. He hardly even keeps the actual unit in his car. It's usually in his dad's car, or maybe his glovebox. In any case, most times I'm in the car with him, the EZPass doesn't even read it.

He says that if there is a "violation", the system simply sees that his plate number is associated with an EZPass account and it's deducted accordingly. He's been doing that for years and never had an issue.

I'm sort of scared to do that, but hey...sounds like it works. Just don't even bother having the unit in the car. As long as your plate is attached to your account, you should be good.

Ancient thread. I put my ezpass under the center speaker grill and it works great. I've used it on toll roads all over the MD/VA area without any problems. It won't fit if you have a center speaker. You need to dremel out the plastic perimeter of the center speaker:

I have the license plate unit
I have it on the dash board
Right behind the speedo, rpm gauge bump
And when I'm driving. I can't see it since the hump hides it
It works 99.5% of the time
The times it doesn't, they get a reading of my number plate, and deduct the money that way

You guys do know that your front fascia ahead of the hood and the fenders are made of plastic, right? Anywhere under the car's skin up there should work fine.
