Bye Bye M3, Hello Cayman S
As indicated in other threads I was at the point where I needed to upgrade my warranty or move on - well, rather than spend $5000 for tires and 20k miles worth of warranty I decided to trade it in on this used 2014, 6MT, 6500 miles, I was actually thinking about a 3/4 year old 997.2, but this fell in my lap - got a good deal on the Cayman and more $ than I expected for my M3
As connected as the M3 felt there's no comparison to the Cayman - it's precise and tight -way more nimble too. Power to weight is probably close. I was never happy with the shifting or clutch on the M3 whereas this one is right on. It has a better sound system and the electronics are easier to access without taking your hands off. Seats are better albeit smaller. |

Thanks
I honestly would have preferred to be in a 911, but realistically I would have had to gone with an older car and, at the best, a little CPO warranty left. This one is the newest car I've had in a long time - has 38 months warranty, I don't think it's been driven in the rain, the underside is spotless. I'll drive it until I get bored and maybe go 911 from there. For what I'm doing with the car engine position would not have made a difference . Quote:

Thanks! I'd love to buy that 996 GT3 from Peter, but I can't afford to keep a 911 on the track, I hear it gets pretty spendy. |

That's a really nice ride. Congrats on the pick up. 911 is the classic choice but can't argue with the performance of the cayman s. That's a real drivers car at a much better price point.

Congrats on the purchase, I also have gone over to the dark side (2011 Carrera GTS). The Cayman is absolutely fantastic, I almost went with one myself. It must be a blast!

Congrats. The new cayman s seems like a baby supercar minus the power and the price tag. Even has baby supercar looks. It has the right proportions and lines.

It could be just me but the new cayman looks pretty damn nice in the flesh. The 911 only "looks" better because I know what's inside. With a more exotic power plant, I think the cayman competes with the most desirable cars out there. IMHO of course. |
