Progressive Houston 2012 E92 M3 is 202.30/mo 300k CSL Loan/Lease Payoff 500 ded. for comp/coll $30/day rental I noticed that no one has Combined Single Limit. Is there a reason for that? Any advice would be appreciated. I was curious and checked what 100/300/100 would do for my cost and it only saved me $2 a month. |

I have a decent driving record and used to pay $1922 for 6 months ($320/month) through Geico. I am in my late 20s and thought that this was ridiculous after reading this thread. I got pissed after reading what everyone else was paying. I even called State Farm, Alstate, Progressive, etc. All around the same price. I don't have any crazy tickets or anything. I had a 2 point failure to signal about 2 years ago and a 2 point speeding ticket about 3 years ago (5-9mph over the limit).
I have full coverage with the highest limits ($300k/$500k) and a $1000 deductible (I know... pretty high). Anyways, I called my carrier about a month and a half ago, I told them I wanted another quote. Now I pay $900 for 6 months ($150/mo) AND I added my wife's brand new 328i to the policy. Crazy. So I was paying around $2000 just for my M3, now I pay $900 for the M3 and the 328. Same coverage. This is an average of $75/mo although I'm sure mine is higher than my wife's 328. I haven't checked the breakdown, but I assume it's around $100 for me and $50 for her. I couldn't believe it. I started wondering if I should have called for a new quote much earlier.

The insurance on an M3 is really no different than a regular 3 series....we're not driving some exotic sports car here. I'm 33 and pay $69 a month with State Farm.

If insurance cost is an issue, you might even look into an e90. There's not much difference in performance, but some insurance companies think that the extra two doors turn it into a Volvo estate. The rates are often significantly different from the coupe.

Anyone with Grundy? My friend pays about $300-400 a year for his SL55 AMG with no mileage limit or deductables(if I remember correctly). Just not drive the car to work.

Ok so I just got in the mail my breakdown for my cars.
So I pay $340 every 6 months for full coverage including a rental car on my E92 M3. My 2009 E70 X5 is $400 every 6 months. So a middle of the line X5 costs more to insure than an M. Interesting.

Whats weird is I pay more for a cheaper costing X5. I just got my breakdown update in the mail this afternoon. So it does cost me more for the middle trim X5 every 6 months VS the M3.

The cost of the vehicle is only one factor used to determine pricing. The type of vehicle is more important. SUV's are always more expensive to insure than cars because they typically sustain greater damage in accidents (i.e. rollovers) and cause considerably more damage to others in accidents (due to their size and mass).

Probably has it insured as a classic car with Hagerty. Their rates are very low, but they will not insure a DD. It must be a pleasure use only car and you need to show them you have a DD insured with another company. The DD needs to be credible, not a beater. In other words, if you have a 1995 Honda Civic as a DD and an Aston Martin as a weekend car, they won't take you because they won't believe you'd ever actually drive the Honda.

A little high. You should be right around $100 for both.

Not sure where you live on the East Coast, but we have some of the most expensive insurance markets in the country here (Boston, NYC, Philly, Baltimore, Miami, DC, Rhode Island).

not entirely true as NY is one of the highest places for insurance as well as South FL. This entire thread is really just for illustrative entertainment as what other people pay contains soooo many variables that make up the policy premium. Insurance can vary very much from zip code to zip code as well as garage locations, age, car etc. In ME insurance is def a lot cheaper than CA |
