The S4 is the heaviest car, yet fastest, looks better than rivals and even roomier inside.

Impressive. Doubt it handles like the Evo, though.

The new S4 is ridiculous to me. I just don't understand how it's possible.

It almost weighs 4.000 pounds, yet kicks the shit out of the 335i in all performance categories, and has more room inside?

Audi has really done a good job on this car.

I think Footie answered this in the other thread:

But even when you take the standing start out of the mix and look at the acceleration of both cars after 60mph you see that the S4 is comfortably quicker.
Also check out this AMS review in that thread:

0-60 for S4: 5.1s and 335i: 5.5s again

Wow, 11.5 to 100mph with a so/so launch...

Me thinks they meant 330 whp given the weight of the car.

Thanks hks786 for this additional review, only this time it's compared to the 335xi, BMW's equivalent to Audi's quattro. This is the second S4 to blast through the magical ton (100mph) barrier in 11.5s, the first was a manual I believe and now this DSG has match it's time which is no mean feat when you consider that Audi haven't provide the DSG version with launch control, so it is in fact meant to be 0.2s slower to 62.5mph (100km/h).

The handling was also very impressive, it all but match the rally bred EVO on the track and slalom and was well ahead of the 335xi. Proves that while BMW are undoubtedly great at making rwd sports saloon they are not that great when it comes to understanding the finer point of awd.

Better to stick to what they do best and leave Audi to do what they do best.

I'm still not a big fan of Audi, but the new S4 has to be respected. This car tuned might be one of the best import tuner cars ever (on par with the RX-7, Skyline, and Supra).

It's just a shame that the first port of call before even a spanner has been place on the engine is to get a bodykit for the thing. From a company which produces the desirable RS4, TT, RS6 and R8 we have the S4 which looks plain Jane and unnoticed among the crowd.

But agreed that it might be a much better option to chose this with some choice tuning parts over a year old M3 or RS4. I will be surprised if 400hp and 380~400ft/lbs isn't available from a tuner soon.

OK, off topic but when you consider how well the S5, TT-S and now the S4 has been against it's BMW rivals does it still sound absurd to think of the TT-RS as car that could take on the M3 and possibly win.

Not worried in the slightest, if the RS5 is to get an N/A engine then the TT-RS will be my next port of call.

It's cute, light and if the TT-S is anything to go by it will be a hoot to drive as well.

Yeah the new S5 may be a monster, but the S4 really has surprised me. Yes, it looks really plain, but the performance numbers stock easily cruise by the 335i, which isn't an easy feat. I didn't expect the S4 numbers to be where they were, I'm completely astounded.

Like footie said, with a nice body kit, and an ECU tune, this car could not only look good, but put down 400/400 and would likely leave even modded 335i's in the dust. For the price point, that is impressive beyond words.

p.s - Yes this car is still on "probation" with me at least, pending evaluation of long term reliability problems. If it has the same waste gate and HPFP issues of the 335i's, that would be very sad.

ABT A4 Bodykit

And here's B&B's bodykit for the A5, it's not hard to imagine how it will look on an A4.

No doubt the A4 could be the car to have, especially Stateside where Audi RS models are so expensive.
