How Do You Ship Wheels/Tires?

i'm selling my oem 220m wheels/tires, and have a good offer that unfortunately is not local. i was wondering how you guys/gals ship wheels and tires and approx how much does it cost? i figure the tires offer up pretty good protection but are there boxes or do you just wrap them up well and hope for the best?

thanks!

I have used cardboard taped to each side, using lots of tape. Cost will vary depending on distance, just do an estimate on the UPS web site. I have found that very accurate.

Cardboard disc on each side, taped, then use stretch wrap around the tire and wheel, then tape that. Seems like the best way and the materials are pretty cheap

For wheels with tires mounted, you can just get some cellophane wrap and put cardboard between two wheels to prevent scratching. Ship in sets of two. Get some measurements and approx weight and you should be able to calculate the approx cost.

Ship each wheel/tire combo separately. For these cars they're going to weigh at least 40lbs each. Two tires or two wheels in one package makes sense, but two wheel/tire combos will be at least 80lbs and for OEM more like 100lbs.

i'll get some measurements and will weigh each tire/wheel...this is going to be quite a bit of $$ to ship i imagine....thanks for the details on how to wrap, sounds like cardboard on either side and lots of plastic/tape.

yikes! got a quote from ups on shipping the set of four wheels/tires from the bay area to houston (i have a good offer for the set from there)....$207 total, including the ups upcharge handling fee because they are 'tires'...weighed a rear and it came up to 50.9 pounds....that might kill the deal i had. oh well, hopefully i find someone close by.
