Eric. Thanks for the kind words brother. Where have you been? I want to see pics of your car.

And yes, we need to get these cars together in the next few weeks : ALL the So. Cal Individual M3s. By my count we have the following cars interested in getting together:

1) Dakar Yellow (me)
2) Monte Carlo Blue (eclipsis)
3) Laguna Seca Blue (Lagunae92)
4) Frozen Gray (golffrr)
5) Titanium Silver (guardodoc)

Anyone else with an Individual color car in Southern California interested in joining myself, eclipsis and these other cars for a nice little meet & greet let me know via PM or on this thread. (AHEM.. BigLare !) Also anybody interested in just stopping by to see... feel free. Will have more details in the next week or two.

^^ no we sold the first one in the US, we have a customer who has #1 who we are going to call and see if he would be so kind to let Sasan, Eric and the others check out his huge car collections and also shoot his car with the other individuals

The Piano black trim looks so classy and refreshing compared to the mandatory CF everywhere.

Definitely worth the extra dough

Get a black or CF front lip. It will match the roof and will definitely flow well with the car...

I love the contrast between the Piano Black trim and the rest of the interior! Well done.

european delivery is a blast. but don't do it because you think it will save you a lot of money on the car. truth is - it probably won't. i suppose the more expensive the car, the more "worth it" it becomes. but expenses like flight, hotel, food, and incidentals pile on quicker than you think. in addition to the time it takes to get the car back to the states... it might be a wash as far as "worth it" factor goes. But if you're someone who truly loves BMW - i definitely recommend it.

You have a dakar too? post some pictures brother !! The edition interiors are beautiful. Wish i could have gotten my hands on one of those here. Unfortunately Individual was out of the "yellow leather inserts", not to mention that they refuse to give us the Euro seats with the better looking leg extender. Did you order the GTS wheels or the ZCP wheels?

Dakar is a very love it or hate it color. I've seen threads where people bash the color relentlessly. haha. But that's okay though, because a lot of people also love this color - myself amongst them. Even with music I've always liked artists with a very defined/stylized signature sound - music that people are either absolutely fanatical about or completely despise. I guess my taste in cars is the same.

I do love this color though. I'm so glad I got it.

I don't think it will be as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Think about it,, how often do you put your hands on your dashboard trim ? But just in case, I'm picking up a special wax from Chemical Guys to guard against marks, AND i'll just throw a micro fiber towel in the glove compartment for the occasional fingerprints haha.

Thanks skazzy and maseroche. In the context of my car it really worked with my black + yellow theme. Between the gloss shadownline trim, the black carbon fiber roof, the black ZCP wheels and now the piano black interior trim, and the gloss black kidney grilles and side markers, things are really starting to get tied together.

Project Update

Installed
  • Akrapovic Evolution Titanium Exhaust System for e9x M3, complete with 100cpi catalytic converters
  • Akrapovic Delete-R
  • Challenge GT Carbon Rear Diffuser
  • Huper Optik Ceramic Tint (40 all around / 50 front windshield)
  • Macht Schnell S65B40 M3 High Performance Air Filter
  • Macht Schnell M3 S65 Performance Underdrive Pulleys
  • IND Gloss Black Kidney Grilles
  • IND Gloss Black Fender Gilles
  • AngeliBright v3.0 10W LED Angel Eye upgrade
  • Satin Black Powder Coated ZCP's
  • Macht Schnell Spacers - 15mm front / 15 mm rear
  • BMW Individual Piano Black trim

To be installed:
  • Vorsteiner CSL style Bootlid Trunk - Dakar Yellow
  • M stitched DCT boot
  • IND matching keyhole cover
  • Euro Front Bumper OR Aftermarket Front Bumper
  • Front PDC retrofit
  • Front lip (TBD)
  • Ohlin Coilover Kit (when it finally gets released)

Considering:
  • Vorsteiner Carbon Kevlar Vented Hood
  • Supercharge
  • Brembo BBK
  • Custom Interior Contrast Stitching
  • Flux Capacitor
  • ECU Performance Software - (high probability I will do this)

Can anyone who's running ECU software/coding comment on their experience? Does this void your warranty? Is it detectable on any level by BMW? Are the performance gains noticeable on a car with exhaust?

Thanks in advance for the feedback guys

I'm not big on the black wheels, but what a nice car!! I wish I could talk myself into a dakar sedan. I'm just afraid it would be too taxi-like. There are some photos of dakar that just look too bright, but I know dakar in person is an awesome color. Congrats!!

this really is a great thread and a nice progression of modifications.

it seems like people are very pleased with the ESS Tuning Akrapovic NA Tune. its noted that it rids of the dip in power in the early RPMs and has solid gains throughout the powerband. i can't imagine it to be really that readily detected by the dealer, but if they do update your DME it will be wiped out. i think if that occurs, ESS allows one free reflash.

where are you getting your 'M Stitched DCT boot'?

i was going to ask if you plan on getting some new suspension mods, but i see you are waiting for the good stuff...OHLINS!!!

great taste! keep up the great build!
