I have exactly the same issue. Hans from ess told me to remove vacuum hose to see if the knocking goes away and it did. Then they informed me to check t connection u see manifold and everything was installed correctly. Does that mean I have a defected bpv?

They wanted me to do the same thing but it's not a very simple procedure to accomplish, especially if you have an intercooled kit and have filled up the system. Try adjusting the bypass valve on the side of the intake plenum. This worked for me. Since making the adjustment my kit has been nothing but wonderful. If you squeeze the hose going into the bypass valve and your issue stops then what I said about adjusting the BPV is what you need to do. Let us know how it goes.

I'm the OP and mine ended up NOT being defective. It needed to be adjusted using the threaded rod and nut on the side of the BPV.

i followed all of their instruction and the knocking sound is still there. me and my friend had the same supercharger and all of the setup were same. i've adjusted the BPV and it only lowered the knocking sound a little bit. if i tight it more it wouldn't help anymore but lowering the speed of my car a lot

I had this exact same issue. ESS told me to adjust the T fitting on the vacuum line coming out of the ICV so that it was a straight shot to the BPV. Apparently the 90 degree bend was causing vaccuum issues to the BPV.

Prior to that, I had tried tightening the BPV to resolve the issue so I wouldn't have to take off the intake manifold, but I would still get the knocking sound sometimes when the engine was under high load at idle (AC on, wheel cranked, and ICV kicking in)

I will in the next few days. I'm not with the car right now. I'm not sure, but I would think every car is going to be a little different. Vacuum hose length and a few other factors could influence what adjustment is needed.

After checking for proper EVAP system operation, proper bypass valve operation, and verifying that there were no vacuum/pressure leaks we discovered that redirecting the vacuum pulses by changing a T shaped hose fitting to a Y shaped fitting solved the problem."

so basically i need to do a y shape in order to solve this knocking noise?

i'm not an expert but that y fitting looks horrible because the area to the right looks pinched off by the endtip of the y connection. the point of the y is to make sure flow is smooth vs. the t connection.

my recommendation is to try to eliminate any pinches or sharp kinks i would put the t connection away from the curve of the hose and more towards where it is a straight line.

then you have a major leak. remove, re-intall your manifold. as it's been posted many times, make sure your line to the bypass valve is connecting, it has to close the valve in there or you will lose boost.

My car is making this knocking noise so I'm going to pull the manifold this weekend and straighten the line going into the T-fitting. How do you determine when the adjustment screw is properly set? Mine is tightened 3 turns but not sure if that's too tight or too loose.
