UGLY, UGLY UGLY. I think the E92 M3 will be my last BMW for a while until something good comes up in the future.

Nothing special. Looks almost the same as E90. I'm sure it will grow on me. They always do. But that's my first impression.

First impression is I am not liking the low placed 'melted' down front end as someone put it. Seems like the new pedestrian standards are messing with the front end lines on BMWs and making them have more of a schnoze like the 5 series or doing the extended droop thing as seen here. Also less of the chunky look I like, longer trunk deck lid. To me overall feel is less short overhang/blunt looking, moving away from the blocky aggressive appearance that I've liked on the 3 series. Glad to have E90 m3 on order

Compare to side view of current-

The interior looks significantly improved. The dash is "cleaner" to my eyes. Space for driver's right leg/foot continues to be at a premium with the flared console crowding that location. Seats look better too.

Exterior is underwhelming to say the least. The headlamp-kidney grill marriage should be in divorce court ASAP.

How much fun is it going to be doing a complete film wrap of that hood? Flame surfacing of the hood reminds one of a Camry.

M Division designers have their work cut out to create a decent looking next generation M3. Here's wishing them a ton of good luck.

Front end looks too much like a Z4. I'm not liking the sperm whale nose end treatment. Otherwise looks good. Sadly it detracts from the 5 series which now will no longer have distinctive tail lights.

I like the side and rear... the front is too big and has a mix of Z4 (hate) and 5 series (like) in it. Looks rather ugly.

Thumbs up

Has no one here noticed the single most important stat regarding the new 3 that is relevant to us M3 owners.....

The new 3 is LIGHTER than the E90 by 88 pounds.

That bodes very well for the next M3.

yea agree about the front..it looks too long and protruded to me...kinda like they ripped the front of the Z4 and put on a 5 series back...the back is good..smaller version of the 5...the change isnt as drastic though like from E46 to E9x...i think the generation after that will be killer

WOW, you are right...it's AWESOME!!!

Lets put up with a horrendous looking front Facade, a disproportional front end and hood, that dumbfounding marriage of headlights and grills, and an overall "meh" in the looks department, because we saved a whoppin' 80lbs?

front facia looks kinda "WTF??" and the side view looks funny cause the front nose dips significantly. The rear is the best part if anything. Then you have the interior.......ok. Kinda expected WAY more than that.

- heads up display is cool
- steering wheel looks kinda whack
- i drive controls are in a much better place
- seats have to be seen in person, nice stitching options it seems
- HATE that shifter knob. yuck - all the more reason to get an M car.

All in all, glad I got my 2012 M3

I couldn't agree more. You took the words from my mouth as I sat here.
The interior looks more refined IMO. Not gonna lie.... I'm anxiously waiting to see the new M3......wait I mean the M4

SH#T that sounds terrible. It's going to take a lot of convincing to help me understand the name change and turbo'ed engines around the corner.

I actually like it. Euro ped safety regs are making designers do some weird things but overally they did okay. The pinched area hear the lights won't age well but will likely be smoothed out after the first facelift. They are clearing copying Audi on the interior and going to different "trim" levels. All of those pics look good, a lot of customizing available. Can't wait to see what the M3/4 interior looks like.

That front end is a win. The car is an improvement overall.
