UPDATED w/ Photo: Driver's seat-fold lever broken

My driver's side seat-fold lever (E92) has come undone. It still functions, but the plastic cover is loose exposing the inner-workings.

Has anyone come across this issue, and if so, how can I fix it? I don't want to get gouged by the dealer for what could be a simple fix. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Holy fu$% dude how hard did you pull? It looks like you might have broken off a clip or two from the plastic cover....

It continues to amaze me how folks on this forum offer minimal help, have nothing useful to add but still have time to bash the OP 7 useless posts that offer no help or add any value to this thread

OP, you might need to take it apart carefully to see how everything goes together. looking at your picture, doesn't look like there is any stitching that came apart which is a good thing. You have to figure out how it comes together with the seat, whether it clicks in place or was it glued on there? You might be able to get away just by replacing the broken components. I would recommend taking it apart yourself to see how it all goes together before taking it anywhere.

This might help.....

MUCH appreciated!

I know what you mean about a lot of posts, but I think these guys meant no harm... The Sasquatch comment actually made me grin.

Just glad there are people willing to help on here, too! Thanks!

A unique problem, and something even if out of warranty, I think BMW might cover. That just seems like shady workmanship. Wow.

Traveling most of this week, but plan to stop by the dealer if I can't fix this myself. Hoping you're right, and they'll cover the work if it comes down to it.

I will never understand why so many people are so quick to jump on BMW (and others) for "shady workmanship" and so on.

Why is there a presumption of bad act(s) here and elsewhere? Is there not a chance that "stuff happens?" Of user/owner error or misconduct?

Is it expected that BMW or other company is responsible for perfect performance forever, regardless of evidence or the actual facts of a situation? Is this standard applied to our own performance at our offices and our personal life?

Ok. Rant over.

Ha. Maybe to be expected from the "everything should be perfect" crowd, eh?
But for an answer - none. Actually ... as an attorney, I've been their adversary a few times and they've never been a client.

This - - works better if there is some prior validity for it.

That reminds me of the M6 gran coupe they had on tour. It had plastic pieces coming off the driver's seat too
