Do You Walk Or Stand Still On An Escalator?

Pretty simple really, do you stand still when you step on an escalator and wait for it to get to the top/bottom or do you walk up/down it in hopes of shaving off a few seconds?

Need another option, "Either - depends on situation..."

If I'm on an escalator with no one in front of me, I'll walk up/down (especially at airports.) If there are people standing in front of me, I'll usually walk up until a few steps behind them, but then stop (I'm not muscling past....) Other times I'm with my young kids, so I'll just stand.

What I can't stand is people standing on the moving walkways at airports, blocking the whole path so I can't walk past (walk left, stand right people!)

It depends. Usually if there's people there I would stand still. If there's no one there I might walk up depending if I feel like it and/or if there are people behind me wanting to go up faster.

I usually walk up/down the stairs unless the elevator is completely packed with people. If there's a few people or so I'll walk past them. The airport moving sidewalks I always walk on, people are usually better about getting to the right on those

otherwise I'll just wait

but on the moving sidewalks, I almost always walk

Standing on a moving sidewalk is slower than walking.

Since all the fatasses here don't walk up/down on escalators I just take the stairs.

If there are stairs, I'll take them unless it's at the mall or something when they're totally out of the way

I usually take the stairs but if I'm feeling lazy I'll go stand on an escalator and not walk.

Depends on how tired I am, if Im carrying luggage, or if im late to a plane

I was late to a plane headed for Hawaii once. I was pounding on the door to let me in. They let me in haha

also forgot to add that if I stand, I stay on one side.. I don't take up the entire escalator in case someone wants to pass

Years of city commuting have trained me to be a walker regardless of the circumstance (but I won't knock anyone down or anything).

Both. If it's a working day then I walk. Need to rush to catch my train. If I'm at the mall or something then I'll just stand.
