Does the akrapovic titanium exhaust system need a heat shield?
I noticed that the stock exhaust for the e92 m3 has a heat shield near the differential. I have also seen that the eisenmann exhaust also has a heat shield in the same area. However, I noticed that the akrapovic exhaust does not have a heat shield, and I was curious to know if installing a heat shield around the titanium piping of the akra provides any benefit. Anyone have any idea?

I don't have a heat shield yet, but I would recommand putting one. Especially of you track the car. I preffer the heat insulating wrap. For example from Thermo Tec. That's what I will install next season.

From what I recall, titanium doesn't hold in heat as much as steel so my guess is that the amount of radiated heat is far reduced with the titanium setup so that it doesn't affect the surrounding components. On the other side of things, additional heat shielding probably wouldn't hurt.

Too bad none of those links work in the above links to buy the shields.
Thanks for the threads.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I have the heat shields in stock. PM me or drop by if you'd like to pick up a set.
