Strange Noise when in reverse...DCT

Hey guys,

I'm new to the E92 M3 (not BMWs) and I have heard this strange noise emanating from the passenger rear wheel area when backing out of the garage. The trans is a DCT. Its only happened randomly twice, but its got me worried.

Its a metallic clanging sound. It almost sounds as if there's a soup can dangling off the rear suspension somewhere.

Any ideas?

did a little research....seems to be the E Brake or pebbles in the rotors. Or caliper heat shield issues.

It's a pebble. Take a screwdriver & push the heat shield a couple times & it should drop out. If not it will fall out on it's own.

is it one clank/clunk or sounds of a bunch of pebbles rattling in a can?

every now and then i get a light clank as I back out of the garage but I chalked that up to just drivetrain noise. I've also had the rattling pebbles in a can sound... first time it was a brake pad lodged between the dust shield and the rotor left by previous owner (or shop). the second time i think it was pebbles and they eventually fell out or something.

it is usually one or two sounds....sounds like a cow bell....didn't want to put that in the original post because I thought I would get too many SNL references.
