Sometimes I want a straight cut sequential gearbox.

The transmission whine, lifting the gas a split second then BANG upshift, tap the clutch for downshift.

Yea yea yea that was a time I'm still trying to forget lol. Something that on paper looked much better than it did in person.

Only kept it like that for 8 days before it went all matte grey and matte black.

This one is staying Sleeperish.

I do, that is indeed my ride.

I have a lung infection right now and can't make it to C&C. But for sure some time!

Since this forum should be called the DCT versus MT forum. I will accept that and give you my opinion.

I have driven manuals for 20 + years. This is the first car that I bought without a manual. I always bought the manual why? Because it was faster than the automatic. In the M world it is not. There is no logical reason to pass up a modification like the DCT and own the slower of the two M cars.

Don't listen to these guys, they don't race their cars at the track nor on the street. The first race you lose to a friend that has a DCT you will hate the MT. The first traffic jam, you will be rowing those gears and putting in that clutch every two seconds for what? To be slower? You will hate the extra work and the fact that you are slower, this will eat you up and you wont be able to sleep at night..LOL The DCT is an advancement in technology, MT is old school and slower.
MT quarter mile times: 12.8 with a professional driver or someone who practices all the time. 13.0 + seconds is the typical time for forum, wanna be racer, MT drones. The DCT modification gets you 12.5 to 12.6 every time!!! This is Corvette territory so you can now race (non zo6) Vettes!! Its also a modification that some of the best and fastest sports cars have in the world:
Aventador, Enzo, GTR, Pagani Huayra, Bugatti Veyron - to name just a few supercars......
I didn't want it just "to be a bit faster". I wanted it for the overall driving experience that you can only get with a 6MT.

Besides this is the easiest city driven manual I've ever driven in my life, no complaints in traffic.
Even with the 700HP supercharger.

It's not which one is better, it's which one suits the driver better.

I had DCT, If my supercharged M3 was DCT it would be much faster in a straight line.

However, I could care less about how much faster the shift is. It's about making that gear selection, getting that heel toe downshift perfectly blipping the throttle while on the brakes, then getting the car pointed through the corner, getting back on the gas, finishing out those last remaining revs, sinking that clutch in and banging it up through the gears. It's just much more fun this way (for me).

And the "magic Dif" doesn't work the same in the 6MT. It's much easier to drift in the DCT while stock which was a blast, but now with 700HP it's almost impossible not to drift while throwing it out of a corner which makes it a great balancing act.

It's whatever fits your personal driving style. Mine is 6MT. But I'm glad I had the DCT first. Was a much more composed car, just not as much as a driving machine.

Which of course is nonsense.
For >some< drivers who have fully mastered gearshifts, H&T etc, MTs are just a slow clunky way of shifting gear that gets in the way of the rush of extracting as near to 100% of the car performance that your ability can conjure up. With DCT, you have far better control, you can push harder and faster and is easily the better driving machine for me.
This doesn't make the DCT the better gearbox it just makes it the better gearbox FOR ME.
Why do so many people think that there choice of transmission is an absolute?
And its the same diff in both cars.

It's about whatever makes the driver happy and OP, if you're happier driving with the inferior/primitive transmission, then good for you! drive in peace.

Don't be so sensitive. Just because someone thinks the 6mt is better for them doesn't mean you have to huff and puff how the automatic is better for you. You seem to be the one indicating that your choice is the absolute...

Pretty much, that film and this discussion are both about groups that haven't managed to evolve. Also, that movie was dull and slow-moving and so is the 6MT - so there's another connection. I think I'll go add that to the film's "Connections" page on IMDB.

Oh look everyone it's DCT's super fan boy!

This discussion is not about what's better. It's discussion about someone else's choice.

No one cares whats better. No one cares what you think. We are discussing what WE like.

The new m3 is "better" with a turbo'd v6, so unless we all evolve and get that, were an idiot too right?

Everytime you poke your head into these DCT threads, the dumber you sound to me

Get over yourself. Like what you like and STFU already.

Do you have a E93?

And are you saying DCT is superior so anyone who didn't choose it is an idiot?

Yet... From the looks of your name, you have a E93? Which from a performance standpoint alone seems ironic to how you are judging others on there transmission decision.

...smh.
