Brake question
Can I install a new set of pads without changing the rotors? Very small lip on the edges but otherwise they are in good shape. 43K on the original pads.

I don't see it to be a problem (it will be better then what you have bow).
However, expect faster wear of your new pads since the rotors most definitely must have a distorted surface (from the heat distortion over time is a given - brakes as you know get very hot). I think common practice is to give the break drums a skim cut. I would have that checked first. My 2 cents ...

yes you can. just make sure to bed them in properly and lay a new layer of material on the current rotors. although best practice per the dealer would recommend rotors at the same time. ultimately its up to you but i do this when i switch to track pads. its fine.

Double check the thickness to make sure they are still worth keeping.

Case in point ... when I purchased my used e46 M3 from a BMW dealer in Vancouver, BC Canada in 2004 I drove her home to Edmonton, Alberta Canada where I lived at the time. It is required to get a safety check done before one can licence the car in the home Province. I had this done at the local BMW dealer and you know what the brake drum was 1 mm below local safety requirements so I had to have them changed to get the car safety certified. the e46 was a certified used BMW when I purchased the car and drover her home some 1200 KM.
