Moving from PA to Miami area

So in August I'll be moving from Philly to the Coral Gables/South Miami area. Going down there house shopping the first week of July. Anyone have any suggestions on which townships to stay away from? We need to be within 30 minutes of Mercy Hospital because of wifey's job so I know that limits our search range. Also, when I get down there is there anyone local that want's to meet up for happy hour or something and BS about cars?

the bad news is you just missed the opportunity to buy Lebron James' house. the good news is that's a nice area of Miami that you will be in. depending on if you want a house or a condo, you can look north to Brickell, or around Mercy or south there is Coconut Grove and Coral Gables. All good areas.

Thanks for the replies. We are looking on Coral Gables down the coast to Cutler Bay. Basically that is all that is in the 30 minute range of her hospital that we are stuck with, and we prefer to stay as close to the coast as possible. Condo is out of the question since my only requirement is a 3 car garage, everything else about the house I could care less. I need a place to keep the toys and I think wifey could use a spot in the garage as well. We might need 4 then.... Maybe I'll have to get her one of those tent things in the driveway, lol.

I hope I can get on a client south of Miami and I don't get screwed with a 90 minute commute each way everyday. We will be down there from 7/6 - 7/10 meeting with the realtors if anyone wants to do dinner or something one night. I might rent a Vette to abuse the shit out of that week if there is a spot to do some drag racing.....

Those areas are nice. You shouldn't have any problem finding a good place there.

Cutler Bay is more like 45+ min away from Mercy in traffic... Too far. A three-car garage is going to be tough to find unless you're willing to spend big bucks. Otherwise, you're looking at great areas... I'm in South Miami, right next to Pinecrest, and love it.

I would avoid anything south of County Line road.

Ugh, i avoid Broward County as much as I can... the only thing I like up there is Markham Park!

Though with a little bit of seriousness, I really don't understand why anyone would live in Dade. It has very little to offer and doesn't come close to west Broward if you like the suburbs. You know the saying.... "We only go to Dade to get paid..." ... West Broward is where it's at

So we ended up putting an offer on a house in cutler cove I think is the name of the neighborhood. Tentative settlement is 9/10 and we are going to stay in her parents condo in sunny isles from 8/15 when we get here until settlement. So I have a little dilemma I'm hoping a fellow bimmer head might be able to help with..... 1st issue is having a drop point for when my cars and Harley are shipped (e36 M and e92 M, '05 Nightrain) since we are driving the wife's car down and visiting friends along the way so I don't know who will get to Miami first. Issue 2 is that at her parents condo they have one parking spot so we already have an issue since we both need a car so I need somewhere to stash the e36 and Harley for 3 weeks. Can anyone help or any ideas. I'm totally willing to compensate someone for either helping with the car drop off (basically just be there to take the car when it gets dropped off if I can't be there) and/or letting me park on the street at their place until we go to settlement. Thanks.

BTW looking forward to meeting some of you guys and learning the lay of the land. We should all go to one of the track nights at PBIR

Nobody goes to PBIR anymore. Let's get a Homestead meet up. If you guys track your cars, we could do a PBOC track day at Homestead next time it's around. Or just go with any of the other groups (HOD or PDG)

I would contact Laz parking they run garages all over Miami. They should be able to get you a few spots for weekly/monthly https://www.lazparking.com
