What's My E92 M3 worth now?
So I was trying to figure out approximately what I could sell my car for now, slightly used but with some mods. When I bought the car it cost me just under $65k after all taxes, not including the tire/wheel insurance for another $850 (I think) that is transferable. The only options on my car are Leather and 19" wheels. It's a 6MT AW with CF roof. I know without a lot of options on the car it makes a resale tougher because you narrow you're market. But I personally like having a simple car with no iDrive in it. The car is in mint condition and sits in my garage all day, isn't even driven in the rain with 3,000 miles on it. Break-in procedure was strictly adhered too. Few mods I did were the front reflector delete. GP Thunders 7500K, 50% tint all around. Gloss black side grilles, matte black kidney grilles, gloss black M3 badge, hardwired V1, sunglass holder mod. I also changed the dash trim to oem CF leather. With all the mods left as is how much do you think my car would be worth if I was to sell it? I always like to try and keep an idea of what it's worth but when I search ebay or cars.com there is nothing there to compare it too. Either none have any mods or the seem to be almost fully loaded cars.

Hmm....not sure how much you'd get with all the mods.....you said you didn't have any options on it? is it a base except w/ 19" rims? hmmmm not sure but if you're looking for a private sale somewhere in the 50-55k range?

First, you will not get all your money back on modifications.
Second, $65K was your OTD price, so MSPR around $58K. No body pay MSPR these day even ordering. To my opinion, you will get $50K to $53K if you are lucky. |

Not to be a prig or anything, but you may have overpaid for the car. I'm easily finding $5-6k off new cars right now. Add to that 3000 mi of depreciation and the wildcard factor of 'those buying a car over $50k frequently want a brand-new one just because.' I'd just swag that it's worth $52-55k from a "real" buyer unless you have lots of patience. I could be wrong.

You will hardly recoup the cost of mods unless it is a private sale wherein buyer likes it and will buy your car with that mods as one of the reason If you also noticed in KBB or similar sites, they don't include options for mods.

yea, KBB is never right plus it doesn't show mods. Pretty sure even though I paid MSRP I didn't overpay. I bought the car in April and where I live none were going for less at that time. MSRP was just over $58 but OTD is was counts since it's impossible to buy without paying taxes. I'm guessing low $50s probably sounds about right since most people would be looking for a car with options. Too bad mods don't ever get you anything back, unless you're lucky enough to find somebody who wants exactly what you did. The leather was an option too since base is cloth. I'm not trying to sell it, I really like the car I got and I have it modded just the way I want it. Seen a bunch of M3s and not a single one with the mods I have done, aside from pics on this forum. Just like to have an idea what it's worth.

Dont put it up for sale yet until the 09 prices are out... 09s will have an increase, and lately the price of gas had come down so may you wont take as much of a hit as most expected.
An fairly new 08 M3 at price of a similarly equipped 09 minus a few thousand to compensate for some discount and maybe another 5k off for depreciation would be your figure! thats my take!

you can bet you will get LESS than KBB. even with mods. on any new car the first year depreciation is huge - especailly in this market when 08's are not selling and the 09's are on the way.

i paid the sales tax but who ever buys it will have to pay the sales tax again so the fact that you paid it doesn't mean anything when its time to sell shame |

To the OP, your car is worth precisely $9.42. I am ready to buy. Seriously though, like you pointed out, there aren't many comps to go by, so you're looking at a bigger range of potential sale prices. I would guess $50-53k. |

Damn... that makes me feel a lot better about the trade-in credit they gave me for my 2-year old 2007 RS4 with 15k miles ($51k). And I thought it was the Audi cars that had sh1tty resale. Maybe I just sold/traded at the right time because I'm pretty sure the used RS4 market value went to sh1t as well.

Go to autotrader.com. There are 1,859 2008 M3s listed. That should give you a good idea.

If you read my post closely I'm not selling my car, or trying too. Just trying to figure out what it might be worth now. and on Autotrader if you look for 2008-09 M3 coupes there is only 8 listings within any distance from me. Not sure what your search was for BMW3R? I disagree everyone wants DCT, it's popularity is mostly on this forum.
