Finally going to drive the Nurburgring!

I'm going on vacation soon and will be driving the Nurburgring on May 9. I cannot wait! I'm actually driving to the 'Ring with a friend who is German. He owns a - get this - Chrysler 300 SRT8. Yes, he is crazy for the American yank tanks LOL. I warned him that he had better change brake pads on his car or he will likely melt the pads after one lap.
I will not be driving his car on the 'Ring however. I will be driving a RenaultSport Clio Cup. I wanted to rent a prepped 330 from another company, but it was not available. This Clio has about the same hp/weight ratio as a stock 330, so it should be pretty fun.
I rented the Clio from RSR. They are excellent and recommended to me by a good friend who has used them before. The upper level cars are only for drivers that have experience on the 'Ring. I guess it's a good decision on their part so they don't have some screw-up ball up a GT3 or an M3.

We're also going to Munich, Vienna and Prague (2 weeks total).

Clio Specs:
SPECS
ENGINE: 1.998 liter / 121.9 cu i
POWER: 200 bhp / 147 KW @ 7100 rpm
TORQUE: 215 Nm / 159 ft lbs @ 5400 rpm
WEIGHT: 1204 kilo / 2.654,4 lbs

Nice. It would be cool to get a lap in that car.

Cool. I assume the rental includes insurance.

Everything is included: insurance, lap fees, gas - all I have to do is drive.

Man that sounds like a hoot.

That rascal looks like it might tip if pushed too hard.

Especially if I knew I was being timed...

Oooops. Here is your car back.

edit: I hear Prague has some seriously hot babeorinos.

Start driving like crazy! You can get enough mileage on the car in time!!! You have over a week. All it would take is a little over 160km per day.

Gonzo: Yes, I've been to Prague before, the babes are stellar!

Good luck and be safe. They find a lot of running stopwatches in the wrecks, it's just not worth it.

Check out doing a lap in the ring taxi, tickets are sold out I'm sure (if they're even running it this time of year). But you might be able to find somebody who's already got tickets and squeeze in the same car as them. They'll take up to four people, one the passenger seat and three across the back.

Just be careful with the local beers. Supposedly very potent.

Unless you want to come back with a nude*bearing*a*ring.

I'm not worried about time at all. It's a weekend so it's going to be busy. I just want to get around the 'Ring for half a day and have some fun. Playing GT4 on a daily basis

RSR does a lap with you as a passenger to help you, so I will have a lap around the track prior to me driving the car.

I have been to the ring and i can tell you that it was one of the greatest days of my life. The track is amazing and the people there are very friendly. I drove a friends 735i BMW (stick, thank god) on the track because I didn't want to pay at the time about $550 for the Renault. The best part of the track are the banked turns, you just can't get that feeling anywhere else. Another plus is that I was able to drive on the autobahn to get to the track. Another thing to factor into your day is that the track was closed for about an hour when we were there because some motorcycle crashed (everyone was ok). Have fun and enjoy the “Green Hell”.
