Wow! I just had a quick dose of reality. I was considering trading my 2012 M3 coupe (2100 miles) in for the 991 S cab and the dealership said they would only give me 52,500. That seems low for a fully loaded coupe in excellent condition. Kelly Blue book listed it for trade in at a dealership of 62,263 in very good condition. I realize nothing is in excellent condition but that just seems too low. Any thoughts

Ouch. Did they budge on the price of the Porsche at all?

Trade in is the worst you're going to do. Any time a dealer is involved, they need to make money. If you bought your car smart, you probably paid near or under invoice, so even loaded you didn't pay much more than the KBB trade value. KBB is very inaccurate, every trade offer I ever got was near or under the KBB trade value for the worst condition. When buying of course, it's the other way around, KBB is low. You really need auction pricing to know where the market is.

Thanks for the input and that gives me a much better perspective on the situation. I definitely love the M3 so no complaints from me on keeping it and enjoying it. I can always pick up a 911 further down the road and I knew this early on I was going to get slammed on the depreciation given that it is less than a year old.

Damn this thread....went down to pacific Porsche and test drove a 991s and realized its actually an affordable car. The seed has officially been planted. My wife wagered with me that I won't make to June. Who am I to bet against that?

Anyone really order this car with a manual? The PDk is amazing and really puts the performance at another level....

Affordable? I'm with adc on this one. I'm way out my league unfortunately. Just hoping for a 997.1 Turbo in about 10 years

Only 2100 miles? Wow, might as well be a brand new car.

Do not drive a 991 unless you want to be leaving with it same day.

No kidding. My only gripe would be the lack of power, but I definitely won't be able to afford the turbo....I'm going to need a more extended test drive. It's definitely slower than my z06, but it also felt slower than my m6 s85...

Forgot to note that I drove cabriolet.

I might have to test drive this car myself and see what all the raving is all about!

That is crazy that they only offered you that. The dealer gave me $52,900 for my 2011 E92 M3 with 20k on it.

Here is a quick pick of it since I first got it.

I agree. I realize that they need to make money, but it seems a little low. I also bought the Cayenne S from them new and prior to that an S4, so I would have thought they would have been a little more friendly on the trade in. Love the guards red by the way. Wheels look great with that color!

Can you share your thoughts about power and speed compared to your m3?

The 991S is simply a step above the M3, no question about it. The build quality, the fit and finish are clearly a notch up. The steering and handling, which are impressive in the M3, are even moreso in the 911S. When you drive it, the price starts to be justified to a degree. The one area where the M3 is better is the engine. Until you get into exotics, there is really nothing like the S65 motor in terms of its overall character. The 911 is high on the list for my M3 replacement, although my M3 is a 2011, and I'm not into flipping cars as often as some people, so I have a few years to go.

Now....the 911 is not as comfortable or smooth. If is definitely more of a pure sports car. Keep that in mind when you consider how you actually drive. Even though my M3 is a pure toy for me, I needed a certain amount of comfort for longer drives and, although limited, I needed a back seat.

So once again, think not just about the car, but how it actually fits into your life.
