I've been running without a front plate for over a year with no tickets. My dealer (Seattle BMW) asked me when the car arrived if I wanted the front plate mount installed. I declined and have not regreted the decision.

Yeah, I have purchased from two different BMW dealers in this area and both had the policy to ask about the front plate before hand. Sure cant hurt to clarify it up front though.

The license wasn't installed and the bumpers were not drilled on mine, although I had it transported from Tucson, AZ to The People's Republik of Kalifornia.
I'm not certain about front plate laws in AZ, but I do suspect that there might be temptation from some dealers to automatically install them for the PRK. |

I even sent my CA a reminder, when I saw the car had hit port on the tracker.

do not let them drill your bumper...
Listen most states you have to have a lic. plate up front... dont drive like a jerk and if you do get pulled over... be normal... polite and trust me they know the deal. They know that you dont want a plate in the front of the car because of the spoiler... most times they will let you go with a verbal warning. Good luck.... you could use an apoxy if you get caught and hava to go to the police station to prove installation... then just wipe it off. Just saying. |

Yep, on vettes I used duct tape rolled over both sides sticky style and would mount my plate right down at the police station where you had to go to show them that you had "fixed" it. Then as soon as I had the fix in I would take it off before even leaving their lot. Worked for quite a while till they declared war. Then I went to getting a new style plate every six weeks and running a temp continuously. No front OR rear plate then, just a temp which is very hard to see in a corvette. They didn't like that but there wasn't anything they could do about it.

I don't think duct tape will work for some police for signing off on front plate tickets. I zip tied the license plate to the front grill one time and the officer said he can't sign off on it because it has to be permanently mounted to the car and not easily removable. He said he wanted to see bolts that screw into the bumper.
I just went to another police station and had another officer sign it off. |
