Loaner/ rental
Ok I have to take my car in for service and it may be there a while I asked about a loaner or rental if it has to be kept overnight and was told if I didn't buy the car from them then I don't get one. I said I understand but if it's warranty work and you keep it overnight I get a rental and I was old once again only if I bought it from them. WTF this isn't right is it?

varies from dealership to dealership along with your relationship with your SA....
with my e60, I used to take to a dealership I did not purchase from, they always gave me a rental......just depends...

Isn't there another dealership near you? I'm pretty sure its a dealership policy... BMWNA has nothing to do with loaners for each dealership.

Dont think loaners are in any way garunteed by warranty nor by BMWNA, just a courtesy offered by some dealerships under any terms they wish.

Wow even my Chevy's got a rental if it was a repair under warranty and they had it overnight regardless if you bought the car from them or not. Looks like BMW may not be everything I had expected.

You guys will laugh at this... I brought my M from dealer "A", and when I want to get service done with them they WILL NOT give me a loaner (which they promise before I brought my M). So the next time I took my car to dealer "B" and they asked me "yes "asked me"" do I need a loaner".
That's service for you from dealer "B" even tho I didn't buy the M from them.

Sorry, not following. What is the difference if they give you a loaner or provide you with a rental? Do you mean should they let you pay them to rent one of their cars? If they don't give you a loaner, I wouldn't even let them make money servicing your car. If you have no choice, then I would rent from enterprise before I give them a dime to rent one of their cars.

loaner = bmw vehicle from the dealership
rental = car from a car rental company (enterprise, avis, dollar, etc...), usually the dealership will have a special rate and the rental fee will be paid for by the dealership, also: due to said special rate, only certain cars they will pay for, other's you may have to come out of pocket a bit to rent...

Yeah what I mean by rental under warranty should they at least provide a payed rental? I mean 4 yr 50k warranty should provide transportation or am I just unable to get my head around this because it seems absurd.

I am currently driving a 2011 328Xi coupe courtesy of Seattle BMW while my car is being serviced. I can't complain, but the M3 makes this thing seem like a minivan!

No loaner or rental car guaranteed, they will usually give you a ride somewhere. It's not part of the warranty, is up to individual dealers. I've usually been able to get one from my dealer, but sometimes they are out. In that case, there is a rental agency on site, but it's on my dime.

They make money off of warranty service. It seems like just good business practice to offer loaners so your customers come back.

I don't think any manufacturer's warranty covers a loaner. So your Chevy dealership provides, them... not Chevy the company. As for your BMW dealership... they sound like a-holes.
