Parts robbing from the F80/F82

Hands up if you have an E9X M3 and are stoked about robbing some parts from the forthcoming M3/M4 cars.

While I know some parts won't work at all, some will need modification to work, and some will bolt right on-- I'm excited about the possibility of some new seats, shift knob, and potentially wheels. I think it's reasonable to assume these will be improved, updated, etc.

Any other pieces you're hoping for, or general thoughts? Go ahead, have fun with this...

As in pulling the internals out and swapping into the E9X headlamps? Interesting... I don't have the balls for that, but I bet it would look great.

I'd like the motor for my E36 M3.

I'll definitely consider the brakes although a Stoptech kit would probably be cheaper.

Brakes are on my list if potentials too, tho I'm sure they will be pricey and require a bit of work to adapt them.

I personally don't like the idea of this sort of thing. It just seems to me like you are accepting the fact that your car is old, out of date, and obsolete. Like you wish you could have the new one but your stuck with this cruddy old one so you're gonna church it up with parts from the new one. It's a little poser-ish in that regard as well IMO.

Really? I guess I can see this in reference to the new halos, but, for example, the wheels just give you another option to make your car unique, and customize it to your liking.

And if the brakes are better, and it's an easy swap, why not? I'm skeptical of this, though. If the next M3/4 is as light as they're projecting, the OEM brake setup may be no better than what we have in ours.

Everyone knows the E9x M3 is a special car, probably has some of the best/most consistent praise of any vehicle, and some believe it will be a future classic...preserve the OEM components (or at least save them) as much as possible

Really? You're entitled to your opinion but I'm definitely shocked by it... Poser-ish?!?! Stuck with the car?!

I bought my 2013 Individual well knowing it was the last year and right before the F80 launch. I'm certainly not mad I'm stuck with it or trying to pose off a car which I'm confident will not be as good. That said, I'd love to have some updated interior pieces like the front seats and shift knob, if they're better components. It's not like I'm driving a 128i here and looking for M5 parts...

Well, I have a 5 year old, 61k mile '08 so maybe that's part of it. And I know that likely no one here is stuck in this car but it does seem a little like an //M badge on a 328 to me.

I'm with you guys on making the car better by replacing components, hell, my car is "fully" modded. But snagging OEM parts from the "new and improved" version just seems weird to me. Especially when the aftermarket provides something that's likely even better for the same price or even less. Agree to disagree I guess.

Can't argue with that!

Yup. Better is better.

Like the S65 will always be better than the S55.

Okay - who's the first one that's going to put an M4 badge on their E92?

Not at all! If that would of being the case I would of waited and ordered an F80! I ordered an E92 for one reason only, The sound it makes when I do this!

I was speaking hyperbolically. But I do have to disagree with you on one thing. Even though I don't want to admit it, the F30/82 M3/4 WILL be better than the E9X and it WILL be obsolete to a certain extent. I mean, everyone isn't exactly junking their E46s but you would never be able to convince me to give up my E92 for one.

the amount of work involved will make it more expensive than buying a LED kit.
there's a physical fit issue so you'll have to custom mounting points and all the light projection adjustments would be out of whack.
