Underdrive Pulley Long-Term Reliability
Anyone out there with 4+ years of experience with an underdrive pulley? I'm considering the MS pulley, but since I own my cars and tend to keep them long-term I'm interested in hearing about the long-term reliability.
Comments from E46 owners would be very useful too. This is for an e92, but I would be interested in hearing anyways. |

always a bad mod. you underdrive all your accessories and can run into problems as car ages. considering how much power it adds it is not worth the price or installatio. leave the car alone or put that money towards SC.

I plan on purchasing MS Underdrive Pulley soon!
Totally different, but my prior vehicle was a 350Z and an underdrive pulley was one of my first mods... Drove close to 80k miles over 5 years with it on and saw ZERO issues from my motor or any accessories! I expect that with better craftsmanship BMW's motor/accessories will produce the same if not better longevity... I completely disagree with the above... For its cost, reliability and power return, Get it! I will say to do your research with a good installer. Not necessarily something you'll want to "slap on". |

I don't see any real issues with it.

Had it for a yr with an audio system installed. I had the same inquiries and let me tell you, pulleys are worth it. I noticed a huge difference in my butt dyno and so did the ppl that had driven the car prior to the pulley. O and no issues.

We have sold quite a few Macht Schnell Underdrive Pulleys and we haven't had any issues with them.
Feel free to PM me if you have any further questions.

Probably one of the best bang for the buck performance mod for our cars. Except for Turner Test Pipes, I believe no other mod will give you/free up ~10 hp for $400-$500. Do the math. I went with Dinan, which to my knowledge is the most aggressive, no issues.

I have had the RDSport one since 2008 with no issues. I am not sure about the other ones but have been happy with this one.
One of my dealer technician friends has told me that some of them cause the idle to bump up and down on cold start.
