Where's the 6FL ipod cable hiding?
Just got my car today and tried plugging my iPod touch in with usb cable that comes with the iPod and could not control the menu's with iDrive... A little research shows me that I need a specific cable called the 6FL cable. DO they hide it somewhere in the car???
Please don't tell me after spending all this dough that BMW is now going to ding me 50 bucks for a proprietary y connector. Please tell me its hiding somewhere in the car... Any way around this? |

Dam.. Have looked everywhere. Only thing I found was a small USB extension cord of about six inches with a female USB at one end and a male USB at the other???What the hell am I suppose to do with this? 6FL has connection to iPod and then y's off to a usb and rca... Dam and it's a long weekend up here with lousy weather. I was going to play with the car...

Mine was in the glove compartment. As long as your car is equipped with USB Audio integration, you should have the Ipod Y Cable.

It is equipped but I guess someone took the cable out or misplaced it. Pisses me off. Hopefully they have one they can take out of another car for me tomorrow....

The cable is not shipped in the car but rather supplied to the dealer separately. It is up to the dealer to put it in the car at delivery or give it to you at delivery. (See attached)

I don't think it is standard in Canada... Went to the dealer on a Saturday when the parts dept was closed and we looked in every car on the lot equiped and noe had the y-connector. Got the boss to go into parts and give me one. Saved myself 100 bucks, lol... Expensive car and they nickle dime you...
