M3 beats R8 V8 in 1 mile drag

I had not seen this video before. A bit confusing at the end where it looks like the audi is slightly ahead and but then final shot the m3 is quite a bit ahead.

Goes back to audi always never putting down the power to the wheels that you would expect, probably due to the awd stuff.

420 hp and 3500 pound R8 and 420hp and 3600 pound m3.

Love watching the m3 clobber the R8 V8!

Here is the m3 beating the Bentley GT Nice!

R8 slightly ahead here but look at the launch of the m3-barely gets off the line so imagine how bad it would beat the bentley if it launched well.

So pretty much the r8 vs the m3 are drivers races but great to see both cars woop the bentley!

OMG what a dope! Here is the bentley one

Can't tell if its the bently TT v8 with 500 hp or the w16 with 550 hp. Either wya with 5200 pounds its not shocking but always impressed with the m3

Yes, the R8 and Bentley both suck. Honestly, what's the point of stuff like this. At this overall level of car, it is all subjective. All these cars are superb and will all have their strengths and weaknesses.

I guarantee that if you take 100 drivers who have driven neither car ever before, and make them do a track session, the vast majority will turn faster lap times in the R8. Maybe a hand full of super-skilled people will be able to get the M3 around faster.

Most people who buy a Bentley are also seeking a level of luxury and exclusivity way beyond the M3.

If you want to drag, just get a GTR, Viper, Vette, Shelby, etc. and call it a day.

The point is for those who cannot or have not gotten to drive something like the bentley or r8 for that matter, it gives a sense of what kind of performance these cars offer. Any enthusiast tends to love any great performance car and we all love to see how our car stacks up.

If it was against a V10 R8 or something that would be silly but I think its says a lot that the m3 can take down audi's halo supercar chassis build even though true supercar status was only achieved with the v10 version. it was a ground up build for a supercar based on a lambo.

M3 takes a production 3 series and makes it sporty

Audi did 8:04 around the ring vs 8:05 so with a ground up chassis build audi was the same as the m3 which was a heavily modded production 3 series

yes, the winner in a straight line between the r8 v8 and M3 is driver dependent - both are great cars. However you dont buy an r8 v8 for straight line performance. Driving the m3 is fun and exciting, whereas driving the r8 is pure bliss

Given both do the ring and most tracks in the same time, same in a straight line-you would really have to like the look of the R8 over the m3 to spend the extra money. Used is another story as you can buy an older R8 but for the most part they are much pricier.

THe R8 V8 is the most expensive car that the m3 equals. I personally am going to get a v10 if I am going to spend that money or atleast a car wtih significant improvement if I am spending 30k more new.

I also would not ever want an audi 4.2 V8 they have been using with the carbon build up. Look at r8 or rs4 dyno's and they dyno really poorly with even 10k miles on them. 310 at the wheels.

have you ever driven the v8 r8 for an extended period of time? I used to own a supercharged e92 M3 and even with the SC I much prefer the driving experience in the R8 vs the M3. it sounds like you are quick to judge the r8 based on what you've read about it. i was too until i bought one. the M3 is a great car but I wouldn't go back

no actually. i was close to doing the M cruise to san diego some time mid-late last year but had something come up last minute. lets hope both of our cars are finished in time for this cruise. it sounds like a lot of fun.
