Albert, yes the pix you showed are essentially the same as what is sold by BMW without the BMW logo. Deltran makes (yes in China) 2 types for BMW - one with the plugin only and other with the clips. Unless you can hardwire a 12v socket, get the one with clips and go to the trunk or under the hood as all have mentioned. BMW charges $69 for what Amazon charges about $25 less. Bet you can get it cheaper. Bet I could last the winter w/o it, but don't want to potentially lose the battery and all those CDs I loaded into the car's hard drive.

There's a 5A fuse between the socket and the battery in my setup: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=326200

You can either get the socket with a new trunk trim with the mounting hole already made or just get the socket and cut a hole in your existing trunk trim.

+1 The negative terminal works just fine, they do not cut off.

Sorry for the large resolution pic, i copied the image link from the manufacturer.

I would bet that BMW would charge more than what the street price on the battery tender plus is going for?
Yes, the BMW system is a rebranded Deltran Battery Tender. It's cheaaper than the BMW one, and work exactly the same.

(part # 82 11 0 026 663) is apparently not meant for the e92 M3. The one I have is (part # 82 11 0 406 881), which connects directly to the battery and not through the 12v outlet.

As mentioned before it is a re-branded Deltran, as there is Deltran paperwork in the packaging.

I am also looking at this as a cheap alternative but I noticed that it specifically says "Not for use on AGM batteries." Aren't our cars equipped with AGM batteries?
