However, I have to say that I hope that punitive action is taken against both your friend and the Porsche driver. Racing any vehicle on public roads at any time is foolhardy. Whilst there are times and places that make such acts less dangerous (but never safe) doing so during rush hour is tantamount to looking for an accident. Sadly in this case, the stupidity of two persons has resulted in the injury of at least 6 innocent persons severe enough to place them in hospital. With the proliferation of track days and drag strips running open days there can be no excuse for racing on the public roads.

Whilst the above will no doubt make some think me a sanctimonious &^%$, and that is your right and prerogative, let's all take a moment to consider our driving and how it may effect others. The car is nothing short of a lethal weapon, something that we would all do well to remember when we drive. The proliferation of safety aids makes us feel secure, but what of pedestrians, cyclists and other road users? How long before we hear of a real kill story?
Bravo!

my prayers go out to all involved except your friend. I hope the asshole did not kill anyone. He should lose his license for numerous years. 1 year for each person injured.

i dont know whats happening recently back home , but everyone seems to be racing around during rush hour in the city... it really is crazy but thankfully most of the time only cars get wrecked..

hers a running toll of crashes since last week:
F430 Spyder, F360 Modena, SRT-10, 997TT, SL55, ML63.

I dont know what has happenend to these people ?

Occupants in the ML escaped pretty much 99% unharmed, just bruises. There were 3 people in the car. The 997TT, no one has seen since then. Other parties involved are recovering

What support do you expect us to show? Support for a "good race" and the driver was able to walk out alive? By posting this story here would just make your friend seem like a jerk.

tctic I don't think he was just looking for support for his friend, he was just looking for some people to support/pray for those who were injured.

would you be saying to support the asshole if he injured or killed one of your family members?

This is why racing should be done on a track.

I'm all for spirited driving, but I haven't raced on a road since I was 18.

The thing is road racing is not about driving skill - it's just about stupidity.

The winner of the race is usually the one who is stupid enough to take the most risk with his own life and those of other road users.

That's not the case on a racetrack - and frankly if this guy can afford a big fat MB jeep he can also afford to indulge his need to race on a track day.

I hope everyone involved fully recovers and that those responsible learn a valuable lesson.

It looks like the more money to spend on a car the less brains or the ability to drive that kind of vehicles.

I hope that theory doesn't apply between sub-compact drivers and us!
