I actually think i'm going with the BBS CH's. 18 x 8.5 front and 18 x 10 rear. I know its not ideal but i really like BBS. Does anyone know if i should run a spacer. Also what tire sizes should i go with? I'm thinking a set of 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 R1's. Would that maintain the correct staggered ratio of the tires?

Spacers are only needed when the offsets are not ideal. 8.5" upfront is stock width, 245 should be fine, you could even bump it up to 255 and run a 275 in the rear, or even squeeze a 285. I don't think it will upset the staggered balance of the stock sizes.

The problem with CH's is, they're HEAVY.

The the same sized ARC-8 wheel on the other hand exceeds JWL requirements, and was tested in Japan by the VIA and the registration numbers are online, on their database as proof. Race teams like Raven performance specifically did not want to purchase LTW-5 wheels due to concerns from other owners. They picked up 9 sets of the ARC-8 wheels. They had numerous offs their first race on the ARC-8 wheels, and have had no issues to date. Not to mention the other 1500+ wheels that are floating out there, and I have yet to hear of a single wheel issue during use besides curb rash. We've turned down every single vendor interested in distributing the wheels with the exception of a few that we already had close ties with previously. Vendors like Bimmerworld wanted to be stocking distributors, but we wanted to keep control of the product and run groupbuys, so we declined. This limits the number of dealers selling the product and lending their credibility to the wheel, but so far the ARC-8 has created it's own good name from the ground up, and the brand will continue to do so as time goes on. |

I don't know how much the 18" CH's weigh, or if they even make 18" CH's for our car, but I know the 19" were pretty heavy and definitely heavier than the stock 19", which are forged, so not an apples to apples comparison.

I've had good luck so far with my LTW's and Rogue spacers (bimmerworld). The spacers are nicely made pieces and are a bit ligther than H&R's (which I also own). I'm not a big burm rider so I can't comment on the strength of the wheels. Enkei NT03's are another option in this price range that seem to have the right offsets. If you plug an e46 m3 into tirerack.com you'll see them listed.
Paintpro, I'll have to look you up some time and check out the ARC's since I might need another set of wheels for time attack street rubber. Last edited by RickyBobby; 06-25-2010 at 12:05 AM.. |
