Megan Racing Exhaust paired with....
Well it looks like this is the best bang for the buck when it comes to exhaust for the E90 M3.
For those that have it do you run a full xpipe or test pipes with the 2nd cats? Im more concerned about noise level. Im open to suggestions. |

I run mine with TP's and its pretty mild until you step on it (from teh inside). If you just want an all around mild exhaust just run it by itself. The TP's actually reduced the little drone it had on its own. If you don't want to hack up your OEM mid-pipe get a x-pipe. Bunch of good used ones on the used parts for sale sub-forum.

I been through a bunch of setup myself (Encore Ti Exhaust, Remus Sport, Rpi Gt Full catless, Rpi Axcel Back) and Megan +TP has been the best so far, its mild with little no to no drone inside the cabin. Also sound great when you step on it, one of the best bang for your buck setup you can get for our cars.

i put on the TP and megan on at the same time, there little to no drone at all in the lower RPM or cruising speed where all my other setup use to give me a headache

Depends how sensitive you are. Also if you are on a budget, TP alone will suffice. But I'm all about catless setups myself.

Oh, I don't doubt you for a second. I just couldn't get myself to cut my stock x-pipe at the time and sold off my Megan without trying the combo. OP, go for it!

I was so close to doing that setup also, how much louder is it compare to OEM?

It's been measured by other forum members at about 3db's above stock at idle and more at WOT. By direct comparison to the MPE for example, it's deeper at idle and maybe has a bit more volume on top albeit with a different tone. However, I would not recommend it with TP's as those I have heard are just silly loud. Megan is better suited for a TP combo.

I have Megan's with all four cats gone. Its almost dead quiet on the highway no drone at all unless you are sitting at 2k, but even the stock exhaust drones there. It's got a nice tone when you get on it and is not obnoxiously loud at all.

Mine is the same, 28-3500 makes you wonder if the engine is even running.

I needed 200 bucks for the install(megan & TTP). I must say, sound is awesome. It does drone somewhat at 2k rpms, but the car isnt makign shit for power there anyhow. Crusing on the highway, or roaming around, the sound is great. I am super pleased with my setup. BPM tune next to get rid of the CEL, and some more HP. Car now sounds like it has a v8 under the hood and it's significant other approved.

Wow. Sounds like Megan is a nice option for those that prefer less extreme exhaust. Would Megan drone if paired with Challenge Street X-Pipes (stock primary cats, resonators in place of secondary cats)?

I went with Megan because you cant be the price and from what I have heard the product is well built. I just didnt see spending 1500-3000 for an axle back. Im gonna pair mine with test pipes.

Have to say - all boils down to what your objectives are. If you are looking for a quality system that provides a great sound and your are just looking for a solid upgrade from stock Megan is the way to go. Bang for buck theory is perfect way to put it but, I don't feel for a second that I sacrificed quality for price. Blue titanium tips look great against black!
