Just shy of 61k since ordered new - aug 08 production.
About 5 track weekends thus far with 3 more planned for next year. Served as daily driver for 4.5 years commuting in and out of DC before becoming a weekend and sunny day option. Intermittent tail light malfunction, battery replacement and passenger door lock actuator failed. Also swapped steering wheel trim when it peeled. 1st to 2nd gear still grinds with quick shifts at the top of the rev range so I avoid 7k + rev shifts from 1-2. Otherwise tires, brakes and oil. Still love the car - just dropped some cash to put a mpe and zcp wheels on her. |

I am on Redline MTL and have noticed a difference in shifting in the new transmission. I did drive the car with the OEM fluid for 600 miles and I was still getting the same crap shifts I was before, hence why I decided to switch oils. I will never look back, although I might try Redline D4, as it better matches the OEM viscosity.

1. 6 months after purchase I complained about bad shifting at high rpm, dealer looked at service records and found the transmission did not have its oil changed...EVER! (except for the break in period). Oil changed for free 2. 1 year later from #1 I went back to dealer to complain once again the transmission was not shifting properly. Mind you I had installed a UUC SS and problem still did not go away. SA documented the problem and had a tech drive it. Tech confirmed notchy and hard to engage transmission. Prognosis? Come back in a week and have the foreman drive it. 3. 1 week later I had the foreman drive the car with me in it (and with the SS installed as well) and foreman confirmed gears are hard to engage. SA initiated paperwork for BMW to review and a few days later I get a call that a new transmission was approved. The point is, I was persistent in documenting the problem with them and they saw that it was an on-going issue and not a one time thing. I would HIGHLY suggest trying a new dearer in a few months and complain about gears being hard to engage and grinding while shifting. Hope this helps!

100,000 miles Blackstone Report
No serious problems, I need to replace my leaky wiper washer pump, needs a good polish. I have a list of parts/things I will do as I go, on top of maintenance.
At 100,000 miles, front rotors, brake pad sensors, oil change w/Blackstone, diff oil, ..... 10k more, oil report coming up soon. Last edited by 4corners; 06-02-2014 at 07:59 PM.. Reason: added oil report for 100000 miles |
