I have just done that move from 335i to E92 M3
up to 5000rpm there is not much in it - in fact I would say the 335i is a smoother easier drive but after 5000rpm the M3 keeps going!!!!!!!!!!!!

and that noise!!!!!!!!!!!addictive - i keep looking for tunnels to drive through

I test drove the Dct version with BMW out in heathrow. The guy let me drive it properly - turned onto m-dynamic etc and encouraged me to give it some. Back wheels were scrambling away on the shifts!

Can't beat the noise of the v8, especially when you change the exhaust, milltek was a great purchase
