How do I fix this E90 M3 sideskirt from sticking out?

Hi all, I'm not new to this forum but I recently sold my 328 coupe and bought a E90 M3 2010.... just a small upgrade

Anyway, I am still at that phase of getting to know the cars cosmetic blemishes and what things require fixed. I'm pretty anal about these things. In general though this car is mint. Will post pics soon.

Anyway... looking for help / advice on how to fix a sticking out M3 side skirt.
Passenger side is fine but the drivers side at the rear wheel is sticking out. See pics.
When I push it in at the top it springs back and it looks like its been off at sometime to get sprayed or something.
Checked screws and tabs underneath - all look fine.

Is there any other screw hidden at the top if the rear door tread thingy come off? Any ideas... don't think dealer will touch it.

Good Side

I tried to bang the corner in but still springs out. Gently pulled back after adjusting screw below... I could see the two clips going into the proper position. I guess the skirt has been stress to the shape it is now. Annoying!

Last picture is from the good side

I have had plenty of them off, it probably needs a clip and if your careful you will only have to replace the one. Might want to order more than one though.

Thanks Brian, I was thinking it might be something like that. I plan on undoing the screws below and pulling the skirt back to inspect tomorrow. It feel like the issue starts from the middle (in between the two doors) then all they back to rear. Along the bottom of the skirt is fine.

You don't happen to know the part number for the clips? Or source on the web?

Thks

Yep, you will prob need to replace the clip behind it. It seems like it has been off in which case they might all be a bit loose. It might be worth removing the skirt entirely and replacing all of the clips with new ones.

Agreed... I can find the E92 clips but not the E90 M3 clips. My search continues

if you can't do it yourself,
go to a local body shop and have them align it

Ordered new clips - Part number for E90 = 51777145501

But now struggling to find the part number for the 1x push pin which locates near the back underneath the skirt.

Looks like car was in an accident at some point for sure and either the clip broke or they did not replace it properly or the panel is bent. My concern would be under neath and the frame being in good shape

Now you are going to scare the guy. I am sure it's fine. Just replace the clip and forget about it.

not trying to scare but I would want to be aware if there was potential accident I did not know about only because I would make sure the frame was not damaged. I am sure its fine but should be checked in my view

Problem solved! This isn't going to help anyone apart from myself and will enable closure of this thread.

Dealership contacted the previous owner and was informed that the left fender was replaced due to something dropping onto it in a garage accident - cosmetic only. I pulled the wheel housing to have a good look round and everything looks sound. No signs of frame repair or wires disturbed etc.
Since the fender was replaced the skirt was removed to access the two bolts under the fender.
Looks like the wrong clips were used to re-install the skirt back on.
Ordered the correct ones, replaced, installed and now good as new.
Side skirt is solid and no longer sticks out.

Actually this is going to help me haha! I'm in the exact same situation as you. What part number is the correct clip?

Thanks, Max

When mine was repainted I has the exact same issue, maybe his side- skirt area had been repainted?
So assembly fail?
