I have to drive a C63 for a few days!

No its not a penalty for something that I have done in the past I am at the Mosport GP all weekend driving the pace car for the Vintage motorcycle festival. This should be a fair bit of fun

Just take a shower to get the MB stank off you afterwards.

Interested in your thoughts, but I have a feeling you will wish you could pace in your M3. Its not until the 2012's come out that AMG will get rid of the torque converter auto, and tune the suspension to tame the nasty understeer. Even then, the tranny and suspension will still not be up to par with the M3. The extra torque and HP will be nice to have on the GP track though. Have fun!

Well I did my 2 days in the C63 at Mosport chasing the bikes around the GP circuit which was great fun.I had ALM3 take over for me on Sunday as I had an annual party to attend which my wife had already committed to in the afternoon.
The C63 is a very diiferent car than the M3 on the street in many different ways.I found the ride is quite harsh and transmits a lot of road noise compared to my 2 EDC equipped cars. The engine for street use is great with tons of low speed torque and spins very strong to 7000 and works quite well with the 7 speed auto box.Overall the car is a very nice everyday car but is lacking in the interior friendlyness, practicality & usability that the BMW's have in my world.
On track the C63 & M3 are not even in the same world. The C63 is quick but it is setup to understeer at the limit and you can only make the back end step out by being a rock ape on the throttle even in a 2nd gear corner.Power wise up the big straight I was seeing 240 KPH at the upper crest which is about the same as my E92 so I think the acceleration is about the same on track. You really do notice the extra weight of the Benz compared the M on track. The C63 would be a good vehicle for wife!

Interesting comparo.
I wonder if the redesigned interior, updated suspension and mct tranny on the 2012 will bring it up to par with the M3 as a daily.
I'm sure the M3 will still be a better track car though even with the C63 updates.

I thought the Benz would be better suited for an old man. Figured you might have been quicker at the track with it. Don't they also have the warning system to help prevent you from falling asleep on the ride home?

My wife is still wondering how I got a fully lettered C63 in the laneway without telling her about it beforehand. She drove it as she likes Benz's and really liked the exhaust note compared to her 335is The new SLK55 AMG is due to be released and that just might be her next car as it has a proper sounding V8 which is a big deal in her eyes.

my wife commuted five thousand miles with our c63 and burned through 2 sets of rear tires and she doesn't drive hard. Thus the m3 we bought, c63 gone.

Based on the relevance of some of your replies in this thread, I stand by my thoughts that a Benz would be better suited for you at this stage in your life......
