Has she already hit the ground when you reversed, or was she still in the process of jumping out of the car? If the latter, then the hooker..er, "guest" is technically still considered part of the car, and you could be penalized for failing to properly secure your luggage.

"failure to secure"? I never heard of such a citation. How much out of pocket for this ticket? Or would that be based on an hourly rate?

Then make a claim against your guests insurance. Guests should know better than to fall or jump from a moving car.

I like to think it's an indicator of how far ahead of the game I am, what with saving on all the moving costs later in life

I personally thing the only way one can protect him/herself from incidents such as that is to buy and install in-dash cams, aka "blackbox". It's about $350 for front and rear cameras and another $150 to get them hardwired, but free if you are a handy man. They will protect you and your vehicle unattended or not.

I had same experience last year. I was driving from Miami to Detroit. Not because of tired driving but just too dark to see, plus there was sinuous highway on mountain--- I hit something I didn't even see it clearly. I hit it because there was a car beside me and when I realized it, I had no time to break. Luckily, nothing seriously happened, just front right rim broken. Here I have to say, BMW anti-explosion tire save me. Can you imagine my rim broken, but tire still good? I mean even tire pressure still good to go.
I have to say, if this happen to you, and you can avoid it, just hit it. Trust the car, as long as the car is under control, you will be fine.

Just didn't know if being stationary mattered in this case.

Falling from a moving car could cause unconsciousness or the ruffie.

Agreed. Accountability for one's actions is gone nowadays. It's always someone else's fault.

With that said, I've made my mistakes, but there's really no one else to blame other than myself.
