First big snow storm of the year...

And I'm taking the M to work! I hope I don't lose it as its Alpine White

Seriously, I'm looking forward to seeing how the car is in the snow. It should be an adventure. Will post pics later, once the snow accumulates.

Up here in Toronto it sounds like I'll be attempting to run the M3 through the first real snow fall tomorrow morning too

Hell yeah, me too. I've had my winter tires on for months, and I'm excited to finally use them.

Yeah I feel like I've been wasting all those miles of trad life on my snows. It's mixed feelings now though. I hate how shitty the roads are going to be after this.

Stay safe and have fun. Watch out for all the other idiots who can't drive. First winter storm means lots of accidents.

I'm with you, Mike - I drove mine today too as it's now my daily driver. luckily, I'm not driving home until after rush hour, so I won't have to deal with female motorists in traffic. should be fun. I'm hoping we get another blizzard like we had last February.

if only the city of Chicago were as diligent with repairing the resulting potholes as they are with clearing the roads we'd have nothing to complain about. be safe.

I hear ya! I won't be heading out till later because of a birthday party. Hopefully, all of the mess will be sorted by the time I head home. I55 is hit or miss. A single accident can lock it down for hours.

power on traction generally isn't the problem while using it with a combination of DSC on/off and MDM, my concern is the same problem everyone else has regardless of AWD, 4WD, SUV, etc: stopping.

Here in DC area, ppl can't drive, and certainly can't drive in anything resembling moisture on the ground. You should see how close people still drive on each other's tails when there's snow on the ground. They must think they're freaking Jeff Gordon, who can just stomp on brakes and the car stops on a dime.

kind of like survival of the fittest. First winter storm, my car stays at home regardless of need, let the noob idiots crash themselves out first, the remaining cars in the following storm generally knows how to drive it in, they've made it that far without accidents.

Mine is staying warm in the condo garage at home, and the R is out. Personally, I don't feel like I'm wasting the snows at all, even with not driving on days like this. The snows are certainly cheaper than the summers, and there have been days were it has been slick enough, even without snow, to be glad for the snow tires.

You are welcome sir. I sold my winter beater so until I replace it, the M gets snow duty. So far it's looking pretty tame. I guess after last February's blizzard, we are all jaded

Ack! We're getting this storm sometime late tonight. My new Blizzak WS-60's have just worn through the mold release layer, so I should be good to go (as long as I don't run into another FWD minivan with all seasons trying to get up the hill in front of me ).

If you let them slid into you, you can order the Euro bumper. Just a thought.

I'm always baffled by awful winter drivers in regions where winter snowfall is an annual event.

It's no better here in Canada, and arguably, in many areas of the GTA, worse.

Quebec got it right when making winter tires mandatory.
