Well, I did it.

I bought a 2011 e90 M3 ZCP DCT slicktop in jet black on black. It will be my daily driver, but I also plan to bring it out to autocross in FS to see if it can sway me away from my e46.

BTW anyone know of a lightweight 18x10 that looks kinda like an OZ superleggera or Volk RE30 (basically something with about 12 to 14 radial spokes).

Nice find!

I can't think of any 12+ straight spoke wheels like that. Lots of 10 spokes like the MT1's pictures on my car above

As matter of fact, I have a pair of MT1s in 18x9.5 that I will probably use until I find something (or save enough for a new matching set). I consider that a close enough appearance match, but I'm giving up that .5" an inch I paid a premium for with the ZCP (and "technically" not legal on a ZCP).

I saw you were looking for 513m's and that is the direction I'd like to go if I went with a set. They seem to be getting grabbed up though.

Those are pretty damn light for the money if you can find a set. $2400ish new if you buy new though eep

Any of y'all thinking about coming out for the San Diego SCCA Match Tour event in March? Was hoping for a solid F Street showing (especially M3s!) but I'm currently the only F Street car registered...

I wish. UCSD alumni, but I'm stuck in the Midwest.

Installed eibach front sway bar today, set it to full soft (50% stiffer than stock) and car feels great on freeway on ramps.

^^^ Good to hear. I'll probably get a front bar at some point. Report back after hitting an AX.

I'm gonna be buying some tires for 18x9 and 18x10 arc 8's next month... still trying to investigate if anyone has fit 285/30R18 RE71r's on the fronts and had good results. Also, anyone tried out the federal rs-rr's yet?

What I'm hearing so far is not near as fast as RE71R, louder than a mud tire, and really bad in wet. Tanstaafl

Any thoughts on 285 RE71R on a 18x9 up front?

[On my e46, I run 255/17 on my 17x8 and like it -losing some precision steering, but that car needs front grip badly (ran 265/18 rear on 18x9, could have easily gone with 275 but the rear didn't need more grip)]

I know Laughlin preferred 265 square, but Heitkotter won on 275 square (Laughlin felt the car was rather different on 275, but maybe he just needed more experience on them than 1 practice run)

IIRC 285 was either not out yet or had just come out before he won?

I dunno if I were srs I'd sure as hell try it if I could find someone dumb enough to mount it for me I mean how much worse can the feel be yeah it's wider but the sidewall is like .5" shorter too
Lowers CG a decent amount relative to the 275 too

EDIT: Just realized you might be asking about fitment not sure how the 285/30 RE71 compares to the 295/30-18 Hoosier A6 dimensionally but if it's the same or narrower, It should fit fine from a clearance perspective. Biggest skreet tire I've done up front is 285/35-18 RS3 on a 18x10 ET25 and it rubs holes in the rear of the fender liner at near full lock but otherwise works fine

I also think the car has enough front bite to take advantage of one of the bigger 19" sizes out back, but I'm a crazy person. I think the 305/30-19 rear with the 275 front or 285 18" front could be hotness and then you don't risk lots of 3rd gear stuff on national courses whereas the 275 and definitely 285 would have that problem (though with DCT you probably don't care)

The 285 was new for 2016.

Start with 265/285, balance is already good if not slightly loose out of the box.

Learned what it feels like to have wheel spin when going straight with half throttle in 2nd gear at a local autox event today. I suppose my 4 year old pss doesn't like wet pavement or the 40f ambient.

Btw, I am curious if camber bolts are considered legal in FS or any stock class? I was talking to a local C55 AMG driver, and he mentioned he was able to use "factory" camber bolts to get to -2.5 front.

Not legal unless it is an BMW accepted alignment method (or some fancy wording) - short answer is its not legal for our cars. I haven't hardly looked under the hood of mine yet, but I know on the e46 you can legally remove the alignment pin (or screw) that is located at the strut mount 3 main bolts. Then you can slide the struts in slightly (gain maybe -.5 is all). No other camber adjusting mods up front are legal.
(Please correct me if I have misspoken about the e9x M3)

Same and e9x has the same adjustment procedure in the book somebody has posted a link to the tis procedure in this thread or maybe the suspension forum. Should net -1.5 to 1.8 total on a ZCP car.

No "bolts" on these. Front strut just slides into a yoke on the knuckle
