225/45R18 and 245/45R18 will have smaller volume of air than the 245/40R18 and 265/40R18 since they are narrower but the same height. So those would give a worse ride.

Conti DW or Hankook Ventus V12 would be solid picks for tires with good daily driver performance and smoother ride.
Hmm, I was thinking with a narrower footprint less road contact would translate into less feedback. Great points.

How about a 255/40R18 and 275/40R18 DWS? Or Ecsta 4X Kumho?
For absolutely best ride, what would you pick for OEM 18" wheels size/model of tire?

Thanks!

If you wanted an all-season tire, the DWS have good ride quality. I have not found them to be meaningfully softer than the DW, just an all season tread compound that gives some snow traction at the cost of warm weather grip.

I do not usually recommend all-seasons for the M3, as the dry/wet grip tends to be disappointing. Usually I'll recommend them as a winter tire for a climate that doesn't have much snow, but not for all year or summertime use. Once you've been spoiled by summer tires, all-seasons just feel so uninspired.

With that said, every driver is different, and if you feel that the all-season is right for you, the DWS is one of the best riding tires in that category, and should be about as smooth as a DW. The slight size change will not matter much.

Hope that helps.
