Honestly, I wouldn't pick an Evo just because I'm more attracted to RWD drivetrains and high revving NA engines, and the M3 fit the bill perfectly for me with its practicality and balanced sports characteristics.
That being said, you really just have to go with your gut about it and not listen to anyone here. If you're leaning back to the Evo, go for it! Auto enthusiasm is about what drives you, not other people.

I traded in the E92 M3 for an Evo X 6 months ago and haven't looked back. During the year that I owned the M3, I longed for my 07 Sti (modded on E85 putting down ~370whp). The M3 quality is great but the Evo is just a much better all around car. What I mean is that it is better at hauling around family and things, better at the auto-x track, better in the winter, and better when it comes to modding. I don't think I would ever but another M3.....it was a disappointment. So many cars that are faster, better handling, and less expensive.

amazing. My old Evo was sold in 2007 for 26.5 w/ 36k on the odo. People are asking same price today w/ more miles. I also had an 05, but the 206 IX are really stable value (if you already own it). Not many left that haven't been ripped apart. |

Nice! My IX was black and my X was silver...after having 8 black cars I decided it was time to call it quits when it came to the X (well, I had an rsti before the X that was also silver)
this thread is making me really miss the Evo...if I had to get another Evo it would be the IX hands down. so many fun memories with that car. i was at around 320awhp with just under $700 in parts lol. running through the gears on the on-ramp in that car never got old. What was done to your Evo to make 425 on RRE's dyno? Sorry if you mentioned this before, I must have missed it. This thread made me visit socalevo.net again after who knows how many years haha |

she was 2006 Sti If i had 15k extra i would buy another one, evo and sti are so special. I used her more then m3, u dont have lether seats to be carefull all the time, 4 light door, nice plastic interior, u dont need to clean it every week and the sound of boxer and blowoff is nice. I loved snow when i had Sti, now i hate it Here she is: |

Since we're all being nostalgic about our old evo's, here's my VIII:
As far as missing having an evo, the only things I miss are: 1) boost and having full power by 3500 rpm 2) gas mileage 3) relatively low maintenance/repair costs

Ive had many evos as well and when I sold my last one I told myself i was over it. But after owning a few BMWs I still had that love for the Evo. So I went out and bought one. I use it as my weekend/childhood collector car haha. Seriously, I just mod it and have fun with it. I have a C63 now as a DD. I dont think ill ever let this one go. Id rather it sit in the garage so when I pull up I see it once a day. Ive just always liked them enough to where that makes it worth it to me.
Sorry for rambling haha. I say go out and get one! If you can afford it keep it as your fun car and it'll put a smile on your face everytime you see it.
