Wow, I wasn't aware that the headlights from pre lci to lci e90/e91's were swappable, thats awesome! No troubles with the computer telling you you have lamps "burned out" either?

Thank you for the correction, interesting information, I guess time will only tell if you can swap LCI coupe/vert headlights to non LCI coupe/verts and M3 coupe/verts. For some reason, I had always thought the M3's had their own, similar in looks but different in design, headlamp.

As far as I know, no. Or if there are errors then they can be overcome somehow. This is based on what a local E90post member told me though - I haven't looked into it myself.

Pre-LCI the 3 series and M3 do share headlights. However, post-LCI they no longer will. So for the M3, in order to put on the new lights, you'd have to make a custom front. Although I suppose its possible the aftermarket will come up with one.

For the E92/E93 3 series, adding the LCI headlights to a pre-LCI car is doable but is going to require some other parts also. Its's basically the opposite of what happened with the E90/E91 3 series. This time, the headlights are changing shape and the taillights are staying the same instead of the taillights changing shape and the headlights staying the same. However, the big key here is that in both of these cases, no fender sheetmetal changes. So both swaps are still relatively easy. For the E90/E91 you only needed to swap the decklid to add the LCI taillights, and for the E92/E93 you will only need to swap the front fascia/bumper to add the LCI headlights.

But isnt the E92/E93 headlights not getting a facelift? Just the taillights are.

Like I said, 3 series is getting headlights. M3 isn't.

Here's a front end shot of the LCI E92 3 series:

Yeah, few would bother probably since few would care that a non-M car has a newer look in front I guess. However, if they were drastically different and looked cool (like an Audi R8 light for example), I bet some people would be interested. Doesn't seem like they'll look anything special though.

Exactly, BMW even offers a retrofit kit.

Best regards,

Yeah, too true. "Facelift" has just become the generic term for mid-model cosmetic changes, even though in the case of the M3 there's no changes to the "face".

Count me in too Slammed!

I did this with the older 98' 750iL E38 Generation.

Swapped the LED look like tail lights, and it was no problem.

However when I tried doing this for the Lexus LX470, which got a butt lift in 2006! with tLED tailights, it was not possible. This is because the lighting harness and wiring was different.

Anyways, bottom line if its a simple swap like the 750, im down!!!!

RealOem's price for the taillight is $200+core so who knows how much the new lights will be
Possibly a little more if the harness needs to change as well, but I doubt it.
And I would say factor in half a labor hour for the "programming" the dealer will bs you about. When we all know its a simple click in the GT1 software to program it just like the alarm

I wonder what's up with the wheels. Looks like unpainted GTS wheels. Could those be a new option?
