Believe it or not...love my Megan with the test pipes. I know that its not a expensive exhaust but it sounds great with the test pipes. I can't begin to tell you on how many compliments I get on the exhaust note.

Is it loud? I have w oem exhaust mod and it's too loud for me. Loved the oem mod on its own. So torn what to do. Add another slip on or remove test pipes.

If you did just the bypass OEM mod that would probably be louder than the Megan. Its not to loud, its pretty loud at certain rpm's but I have heard the bypass OEM mod with test pipes and I thought it was somewhat louder than the Megan.

I'm a fan of test pipes with a stock back box. Check out my video called E90 M3 test pipes stock muffler:

it may not be loud inside, but you'll hear the exhaust
drone free, and it's plenty loud outside the vehicle.

I dont have the bypass. I have the perforated method which sounded perfect to me (mine was maybe slightly louder than others w this method as i removed more of the "hair" inside).

Combined w test pipes its just a bit too loud...not horrible, but I get a bit to self conscious before revving to 6-8k which i dont want to worry about or draw too much attention.

Many say the Megan is a good setup w TP's, but not sure if it will be less loud than my current setup or not.

Op do you mind adding a video of your setup? I've wanted to do test pipes with my OEM exhaust mod but it seems a lot here are against it. Any more thoughts?

I'll take a video to post up and you can decide yourself. If you generally like loud its not a bad setup. There is no drone really and absolutely quite on highway 70mpg in 6th.

The only part of the range i dont really care for is about 3800-4200 or so doesnt sound smooth or refined. and gets pretty damn loud up top. You can control it obviously, but if you like to redline alot, this isnt the "shy" setup.

I tried a few mufflers and they were all too loud (especially cold start) went back to the oem muffler (yours!) and I'm happy now.

Yea I've heard people talking about the raspy sound. I haven't really heard any good videos so I can't make judgement on it yet. I don't think I mind rasp too much

Man I need the kool-AID that your car is drinking to get that 70 MPG on the highway!!

Ok, kidding aside, I have the test pipes and stock exhaust and I like it. Thinking I want to go Megan later in the year though.

It's a very E46 M3-ish, metallic rasp in the mid range. I had the ACM method though, and wasn't a fan of it with TP. Lose too much sound quality and get just a ton of volume in return.

Can't agree more, I'm running the same setup. Removing the primary cats actually reduced highway drone for me.

Has anything ever been paired with the OEM exhaust mod and not sounded raspy?
